Anyone know how to get air to stay in this tire?

I have a utility cart from Craftsman that I pull with my lawn tractor. I have not used it in a couple of years, and both tires are flat (no tubes). Anyone know how to get air to stay in these kind of tires? My wheel barrow has the same type of tire, but the tire itself is pushed out against the rim. The tires on the cart are pushing inward away from the rim; thus not being able to hold any air. I suppose I need to get the tire pushed out against the rim somehow.

Nevermind, I saw someone mention to use a bungy cord or ratchet tie down strap around the center of the tire to get the bottom part to push out towards the wheel. I will try that.

you would be better off just putting a tube in it. especially if the inner rims was exposed, IMO they will just leak again in not fromt he rims from the dry rot. I get the tubes with the tire seal in them and never have to worry about them going flat again.

Just wanted to report back that I picked another gallon of cherries to add to my 5 quarts of too-thick pie filling. I reprocessed in two batches. The first time, I wasn't thinking and left the cherries in the syrup while returning everything to a boil. Those started to fall apart. The second time, I strained the cherries out and reheated just the saucy part. (I boiled the new cherries for one minute, and reheated the previously canned ones in the microwave so they would be hot when I added them back to the sauce.) The second batch looks better than the first, but I now have six quarts and three pints of pie filling with good seals that ring a nice clear note when tapped. I thought the filling looked pretty thin, but I would rather have the seals than the thickness. I might make a test pie and determine whether my dad should add some thickener before baking. I'll give him the better-looking jars, maybe saving enough of the pretty filling to make the Thanksgiving cherry pie for the relatives. Thanks so much for all the help Carol, I really appreciate the dialog and advice! I ended up keeping the jars in the fridge for two weeks before reprocessing, but the jars were sealed enough that I had to pry them open, so I felt ok about it. Thanks! Melissa

Consider Fontana a small Floribunda. Really, almost 4' tall. A little slow to rebloom. Black Jade gets to 2.5' - 3' tall here. I killed three Hot Tamale, better ask someone else. Tangerine Twist stayed at 2.5' tall. It has a lot of petals and was slower to rebloom, maybe 6 weeks. Moonlight 'n Roses was a non-starter.

Texas Girl, we got our beneficial nemitodes at Lockhill feed store in San Antonio, they are $48 for 6 million, but Jim, in Aranasa found them at Turners Nursery in Corpus Christi, for $22.50 for 6 million. Next month we are going to Corpus to get them. I can really tell the diffrence. You have to spray them in the evening when it is cool, and sprinkle the yard. We were lucky and it rained for 4 days, after we sprayed. My husband and I laughted, and laughted, since the nemitodes are invisible, and we kept thinking what if the sponge was empty, but it wasn't. we found a yr ago that most lower priced airlines don't do bereavement fares when we had to go up for my grandmother's passing. i primarily fly southwest and they don't offer bereavement fares. we needed a flight oct 07 from orlando to midway last minute and paid $1100 for dh & i. we fly that same route several times a yr, before the huge increases this yr of course lol, for $300 together, fares this yr have been around $500. we could have flown united into o'hare for $200 less but the limo would have cost almost that much more since o'hare is much further away. we decided to stick w/ southwest since i've flown them for 20+ yrs w/o a single problem and we were on a very tight schedule and could not have everything go off perfectly. good luck maybe w/ the reduced # of flyers you might get a bereavement fare. ~ liz

I have a wheelbarrow, hand truck and portable generator. Have completed adding a tube and Slime to each. I gave up on trying to get them to hold air some time ago.

May try a tube if needed, but got both tires full of air last Sunday in 5 mins with a ratchet strap and they were still nice and full this afternoon. Don't use it much, so not sure what will happen with constant use.

pdog, The tires will go flat again. Take the advice above and install tubes.... or you can just plan to do the strap and inflate procedure many more times in the future. All tires leak and over time will go flat. If the tire bead comes loose from the rim you have the problem you encountered making re-inflation a real pain.

Tire slime or take it to your local rental place and have the tires foamed. For a nominal cost they fill the tire with foamÂ.it rides like an air filled tire and never goes flat. Even if you run over a nail.

Tube it. I had a continuing nightmare with puncturevine and the 4.10 3.5 tires on my pull sprayer. I bought 4 ply tires and put tubes in it and 2 years ago at that. No flats since. Same for the snowblower.
Those tires and rims are not meant to be tubeless.

I'm supprised no one suggested the starter fluid method.
You spray a little starter fluid into the tire and light it--POOF and it blows the tire out against the bead and seats it there. Then inflate with air.

I think you need to tie a rope around the tire with the fire method, correct? I don't know and hope I never have to do it.

Yeah, try that at home--and you'll wake up every old nebby neighbor, who will promptly call the law, telling them the guy next door is setting off fireworks, and you know what that will cost!

I have seated lots of tires with lighter fluid and similar chemicals. It makes very little noise and works great. No need for a strap or rope around the tire.

I made myself one of these bead seaters years ago with a 5 gallon air tank. Watch the clip.....works every time. They show it being used with a small air hose attached to the valve stem, but I've never used a hose with mine. Just charge the tank, aim the nozzle into the gap between the tire bead and rim.....and Presto! You're done.

You don't even need to lay the tire down like they show unless it's really being a pain. I've done plenty of them while still on the trailer/lawn tractor/etc.

No straps/starting fluid/rope/whatever required. Ever.

Tubes are nice and all, but once you've seated a stubborn tire this way and you see how quick and easy it is....you won't bother with a tube in many cases.
