Why does this always happen??

Every time I have roses on order it always happens!!

Weather report for this week end.

Sunday: Snow and sleet, possibly mixed with rain, becoming all snow after 1pm. High near 34. Windy, with a northeast wind between 20 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Sunday Night: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Windy, with a north wind between 20 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Monday: A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 39. Windy, with a north wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

This sucks !!!!!!.

Oh Stan I am sorry!
But you really don't want to come out here to Drought-Land.

We're removing roses here, so that we will be able to afford to water the ones we're keeping.

Stan, sounds just like where I was born and raised-Upstate N.Y. I feel for you. We used to get over 250 inches of snow a year, sometimes more. And...it wasn't like any post card picture either, where there would be a bunch of snow and then a beautiful wonderland. It was gray, gray, gray, damp, and then more snow, sometimes everyday. When we went up for Christmas the winds were what we call Category I hurricaine force, along with the snow. We fled.

We moved to Central Florida almost 13 years ago and never looked back.

Your new roses will cheer you up. It sounds as though they might be spending a few days indoors though.

The fruits of your labor will be rewarded by doing the so called boring stuff first. Instant gradification for this project will come with great disappiontment. So you are on the right track. If you want those roses sooner try growing in the large pots as you say. Put in an area that won't get in the way of the project area. You can also dig holes and place those pot in the holes to be lifted and planted when ready. Some can be placed above ground level and some placed in dug holes. Kind of a win win. Don't forget to use annuals to also give great color and interest during the growing season. It is a compramise you may beable to live with. I agree get pics of before during and after. Watch it evolve I think you will be suprised and quite pleased with the results.

lol, I guess, except for one thing they don't speak English, y no habla espanol. However I do get to watch all those soaps I've missed for years that have only progressed about two weeks in the story since the last time I've seen them. That's always a plus when the kids are running outside into the parking lot, hehe

It's awful to be sick so near Christmas, but the last Christmas I was at home (at my parent's house)my dad and I were both sick. My mom thankfully didn't get this horrible cold. I don't even know if it was a cold. I wanted to throw up a lot, couldn't eat, and just was miserable, as was dad. My mom knew I didn't feel well on Christmas Eve, and she asked me so many times as she prepared this wonderful meal with all the nice trimmings, if we were going to be too sick to eat the next day. I assured her we would, but the next day we couldn't touch anything. That was probably the worst Christmas ever!! I was barely able to sit up enough to open gifts. My dad, as sick as he was, drove across town to the only pharmacy open on Christmas and 24 hours for medicine! Talk about bad timing, lol!

Oh, I'm sorry everything seems so tough right now. I had a crying jag a few weeks ago, partly because I worry about dd1 who is staying in India for several months and partly, I'm sure, because of hormones. I'm 49-- are you at that point? I don't mean to offend if you're younger!! Yes, Kat is right on all points, especially pushing you to see a doctor and getting your dh to take his meds. A screwy thyroid can really mess with the emotions. Does he say why he won't take them? There was a long thread about them recently and it was full of interesting information, especially that Synthroid doesn't help some people. We do worry about our little chickies, don't we? It's so easy for me to tell others that all will be well, but I tend to get worked up over my own when I should let them be. How is Sydney liking college so far? I left for a week just after you wrote about taking her to school-- I'm sure she'll have a great time and do well. Sounds like your ds has his feet on the ground and both of your kids are making you proud. I try to remind myself that things usually do look brighter in the morning because I can become more anxious/depressed when I'm tired. I'll make one suggestion that helps me: if you can't sleep, go watch a good sitcom or funny movie! Things WILL look better in the morning.

Oh, well, half my roses are blooming and the other half budded and we are expected another freeze the week of Easter this year. C'est la vie and so much for global warming. This has been a cold year from Haedes.

I totally understand what you mean. We are expected to have snow on Monday. The last few weeks have been cold, and we've had freezes. I've complained about this every year for the past eleven years, and yet I know that officially our last killing frost is not until Mother's Day! Like you, I have orders from Vintage Gardens and Ashdown coming. Sometimes I wonder why I bother to plant anything in light of our short growing season. And yet every year I try.....

You are rushing your season, Stan. I do it every year. The first warm days of late winter, early spring and I'm out there doing the big clean up, prunning, weeding, transplanting. It is frustrating!

Don't worry about your roses. Keep them in buckets of water until it is more hospitable out there. I know, you've got things to do, plans to put into action. Still Mother Nature claims priority. It is 40 degrees here and I'm dressed and ready to go. Still with the wind, it is a bit chilly. Just got over the flu, so I'm waiting for the temps to rise a bit.

Patience is learned---again, and again and again.

I'm sorry it's just part of the joys of gardening. Last year before my garden party(May 31) we had a killing frost on May 1st 2nd and 3rd. Then the next week temperatures soared to 90 degrees while I cut off frost and cane borer damage in tears. Finally it turned cold and rainy and actually rained the day of the party. We once thought of calling this place Fickle Weather Farm.

Today's high of 60 with 40 mph sustained winds this PM. Tonight a low of 32, windy.
Tomorrow, high of 60 windy with a low of 28 windy. I'm gonna get my foliage and buds zapped again, this one may do in the once bloomers.
But things look up, by Wednesday high of 91.
And the extreme drought continues with the wind.
I wanna go to LaLa land too. But where the heck is it?

We're in a tornado watch right now, 60 mph winds with hail possible. Luckily I only planted out two bare roots and I potted the rest so they can come in the garage tonight. The car can stay out in the hail! My potted roses are coming this week. It's 74 outside right now and it's going to SNOW tomorrow with a HIGH of 39, dropping to 26 at night. Tuesday the same. No real improvement until Wednesday. I'm hoping this won't be a repeat of Easter 06. The already stressed plants (and gardener!) can't take another one of those. My poor Japanese maples!!! I'm so bummed.

Stan, just let us know when you're ordering next year so we can all be prepared. :D

Most of my stuff(no roses) is still in pots on the deck, which I'll toss a blanket over. Thankfully, despite all the warm bouts amongst freezes we've had, none of my roses have budded out.

Stan, I know what you're feeling. Yes, we *know* that it is early, early spring and the weather is not at all unusual (getting the same forecast of snow again this week) and yet by this time of year we are not able to maintain our sense of humor in the face of the weather tease and the plans we have made, the orders we have coming on a schedule we could only guess at last winter when we placed the orders, and the long list of things to be done we're itching to start. Nothing to do but vent a little, shrug and do what we have to do to get by, right Stan? As our friends across the country are gently reminding you - and me, too - it could be worse. :-)
