Find the source/base of the cane with the red rose. If the source is below what is called the bud union (see the photo at the link below), then that is what we call a "sucker" from the rootstock. Go down to the base and scrape off that sucker from where it is attached to the rootstock. Dr. Huey is vigorous, and only by scraping it off at the base will help you save your white rose. Don't cut it, that won't help. If the source is above, then it is a sport. Methinks, though, that it is a Dr. Huey sucker. Here is a link that might be useful: Anatomy of a Bare Root Rose

I "found" her at a cemetery..it wasn't in bloom at the time..but I was intrigued because of the foliage and thorn arrangement..thought it might be special. I just looked it up on HMF..and you are right..that is my rose..I am going to enjoy growing this rose! I took the cuttings 2 summers ago, and this is the first bloom I've seen..and lots of them!! Lots of lovely whites here--I especially like the ones that get a soft, sheer glaze of pink or yellow across the center--like suebelle's Bolero and Beth's Ginger Hill, Victorian Lace, and White Gene Boerner. And I love full shapes like Suebelle's Bianca and Pat's Kronprinzessin Victoria--but I also love the poised shapely ones like Pat's Secret's Out--and Seil, I think your photo of the shapely Ivory Tower is one of the most beautiful photos you have ever shown us on this forum! And those delicate shades glowing softly on those blooms! I don't seem to have any special pics of whites--must work on that next summer. Couple stalwarts I rely on, however. Memoire (or Ice Cream)--nice white, fairly disease resistant, but nothing special, unfortunately. Popcorn Gourmet--this is that tough survivor we were discussing on another thread. Cutie too. Green Ice--This is a pic from several years ago--this mini sprawls a lot more now. I think that is about it. The buds are very rounded, but the smaller ones are pointed. I shoved some in a bowl as I was playing Morticia Addams making some cutting to try and root. I does look very much like the rose you fond in Sonoma, catspa, except there is no red in the growth and the buds and flowers have glandular prickle like structures, but maybe it hasn't put forth much new growth. It is highly neglected but the foliage is healthy and hearty! I like that it may be an Alba, it really does look like most of the photos, especially the second and last photos which do not show the new red growth. I knew I could count on you experts! It really is white, which made me wonder after looking at more photos, no yellowish center. A fun find! I found it at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Anderson.
