What can I say? I miss everyone. What I would prefer is to not discuss what happened right or wrong. It's old news and painful. Just let me say that I'm sorry for being so hasty and leaving in a huff. In all the many years I've been on the forum I've encountered very few unkind statements or anything I thought was insulting and every time I just ignored it and the statement and my feelings(correct or incorrect) would just dissapate. I am honestly sorry for being reactive. It is not the best thing in a place like this. Some of you know that I have been in pain and having trouble sleeping for a few weeks. That can really change a person. Now that I am on the mend I feel very differently. I was actually afraid to go back and look at that post which is now scrubbed. I did go the other day though and saw Randy's kind thread and thanks to him and others. Anyway here I am back with this place and folks that I do care about so much.

My computer's hard drive crashed back in November, got the blue screen of death, then the black screen of death, and that was all she wrote. The reader arm in the drive bounces around on the platter with a clicking sound, making it unable to read the platter. A friend tried installing a new hard drive in the computer but it wouldn't take. Some other components in the computer's mother board must have been fried as well. I lost everything. Some of my pictures were saved, the ones I downloaded onto Photobucket and Facebook, but the rest are gone. I lost my novel too, fortunately I had the first three chapters saved in my email, the rest I had to write all over again. After that fiasco of losing my computer, my friend installed Dropbox, so now my important files, like my novel, automatically go into my Dropbox account whenever I work on it and save it, so if and when this computer I have now decides to go all blue or black screen of death on me, I can still access my files. I'll also back up on a CD too, but Dropbox is more convenient. Anyway, sorry you lost your computer and everything on it. I can feel your pain. :( Karen

drat...I typed a big answer and it morphed!!!!!! Okay, here I go again!! LG, I have 50 teeny peat pots and some basil seed. I will start them a few weeks early in my sewing room window... Kathleen, I apologize for highjacking your supper...I owe you one if I can ever entice you to Texas! Since each table will have it's own little theme, I can get by with using all sorts of paper goods. Tuesday Morning often has a good assortment of odd plates and napkins, so I will be checking there often!! Saturday I picked up a package of plates and napkins with birdies and nests on them...how cool is that?!! OreosMom, that sounds like a cool centerpiece for the desert table....I have to think on that and see what I can figure out! Thank you to all of you for taking your time to help me brainstorm!! I am "just me" as well. Here's what I do....and eat for 2 meals and freeze the rest. 1/4 cup chopped onion 2 T chopped green pepper Sautees slowly in 1 Tbs olive oil When starting to soften, add 1/2 pound lean ground beef and a large clove of garlic sliced thin or chopped. Sautee and stir until the meat is broken up and no longer pink. Add one large can ( think it's 32 oz) of whole canned Italian plum tomatoes. Break them up with your hands, and add 1 small can of continadina (other brands are bitter) tomato paste, and fill the can with dry red wine and add that too. Add herbs...1 bay leaf, 1 tsp dry oregano and 1 tsp dry basil and 1 tsp of dry parsley. Cover and simmer at least an hour, stirring occasionally. Serve over cooked pasta. Makes about 3 to 4 servings. Or....this is more likely to happen in the summer. In a 10 inch fry pan sautee a small sweet onion, half a green pepper and half a red or yellow pepper in 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When slightly softened add 2 small zucchini cut into chunks, or one zucchini and one small peeled eggplant, 2 cloves of garlic, several mushrooms...4 to 5 small ones, and 3 or 4 fresh peeled cut up tomatoes. add a handful of fresh mixed basil and parsley with a little oregano or thyme is you have it fresh... Cook fairly rapidly stirring often until most of the liquid has evaporated ands erve over pasta....top with Fresh grated parmesan. Oh my....I love summer!! Linda C

Hi friends. Today was a great day, a very long day and my feet hurt so much I had to take my shoes off and walk without them for a while. The weather was absolutely beautiful! What an experience. First we were able to go into the paddock that is where all the owners go along with their horses. First my husband was only able to go but then an extra ticket came along and I was there too. Our horse was Funny Feeling, the 4th race number 10. And guess what she won!! Everything happened very fast, we were escorted to the winner's circle and they took a picture of all of us. When I get my pictures I'll download them. A picture of our horse winning will be sent to us. The purse was only $50,000 but what a race. Pete and I got a picture of us holding the trophy. By the way when I picked up that hat at Dees' (what a terrible experience) my hat was not done right, it took them 3 times to fix it, still not right but I'm accepting what I cannot change. I didnt get the pink hat I wore the one I bought at Macys and I got compliments all day long. So I've learned no stressing about sill stuff. Tomorrow will be a terrible weather day but I'm under cover but my sons and soninlaw and nephew are not. We bought them rain gear, etc. Talk to you tomorrow. The race starts at 5:45 but the commentators will begin at 4. Hope we win or come close and if not the experience was worth a lot. Thank you everyone!

Pam, so happy you are back, and VERY happy you are feeling better.

Let's talk about roses...what is happening in your garden? My banksie lutea and Belle Portugaise are my earliest blomers, and they are both in full bloom - they are right next to each other, and the very pale yellow and very pale pink look so lovely together! (I would claim I planned that, but I didn't - I was very happy to see how lovely it looked the first time they bloomed simultaneously, which they have every year since - someone is looking out for me!)

I obviously missed something. I'm sorry someone was unkind to you. I can't imagine why they would be, you are one of the gentlest people I know and never speak an unkind word to anyone. I'm glad you are back and that your pain is better. There are so many really nice people here, ignore the ones who aren't. That's what I do :-).

Whatever it was, I missed it too. I don't think you should worry about it or give it another thought.

Jackie, the garden is coming along beautifully except that the cane borers are at my roses again. They burrow into the new growth turning it black and ugly. It didn't ruin everything last year so I'm pulling off the dead stems and hoping for the best. We're behind you in blooms here. Pompon de Paris will start soon then I expect the Ceciles. Other things like Candituft, Ceanothus, Daffodils, Tulips, Rosemary, fruit trees etc. are blooming. Fortunately I was really ahead in my work before getting the siatica so the garden looks pretty good. Ofcourse there is always tons to do. I've been forbidden to dig but have sneaked in a very few digs. Yesterday I planted perrienels sitting down. Michael bought me the most beautiful flat of Blue Bird Delphiniums. I'm really so much better. I just can't go out and try to be wonder woman, which is why I hurt myself in the first place.

Back pain and not sleeping, oh what a deadly combination as I know only too well. I hope your trips to your beautiful garden to gaze at all the newly opened blossoms will give you much happiness every day. So glad you're feeling better and are back here with us.

Don't over due it...but...don't underestimate the extreme beneficial therapy of getting some good quality dirt under your fingernails. Has very great restorative powers.

I have no idea what happened to hurt you...but I do know that I enjoy your posts immensely...and hope everything will soon be "coming up roses" for you (sorry for bad pun).

Now go and smell a bloom or two. Better yet, snap a photo or two.
