I have LJS on order from Vintage, coming in June. Late but I'm traveling the end of May.

Personally I would prefer grafted but for above reason and because they had another rose I wanted Cerise Bouquet and Veilchenblau I ended up with V.

I looked on HMF and they had listed:

You will have to contact each one direct to see if they have it.

Marleah and jim, thank you. Vintage roses was one I was trying to remember, tried vintageroses.com and got a place that appears to sell cut roses. Also looked for Jackson & Perkins, they don't seem to have much online.

Roses Unlimited is another name I remember from here. I'll try all those links. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much. I went out on a limb and ordered 2 Awakening and 2 Hettie from Uncommon Rose. I realized LJS is not a repeat bloomer. I know nothing about Hettie except she is beautiful and they say it grows in my zone, Awakening needs protection. Both could be a problem. They may be out by the time my order goes into their office, but it appears they restock as bands become available from the greenhouse. Shipping date May 7.

If Klehm's doesn't let me down, I have 2 C. Rooguichi (sp?) deep blue/purple to go with Hettie in front.

Vintage has lots of nice shrub roses, but none of the climbers that fit what I wanted for this phase, will need more later on. Hope I didn't make yet another mistake.

Bands will be ok because they will be smaller and easier on my aching back to plant and at least I'll get something there. If they don't work and survive, I can move them or something.

If anybody knows any more about these roses, whether they repeat, etc., would appreciate the info. Awakening is related to New Dawn so it might repeat which I hope. I can't sleep.

helpmefind says it grows 5 to 9 feet, doubt it will cover my arbor in my zone. Also say continuous bloom throughout the season, quite hardy, heat tolerant (big + because it's going in south where it cooks out there in Jul Aug Sep), mulch should help.

Awakening seems to meet all my specs, tolerates part shade, hardy, some say protected location, not exactly protected where it will be. Requires winter protection if drops below freezing, occasional repeat later in season.

If I can't protect it through the winter, sounds like a pain, maybe I can grow it as a shrub rose and then protect it more easily.

How do I winter protect a climber?

Don't count your roses before they ship.

I had Awakening growing on a fence, and it was awesome. It looks like SDLM, is very fragrant. I did not spray it and it did not get blackspot. It also tolerates shade. The only drawback is that it has thorns.

Yesterday I was at Petals from the Past. They have OGR and they ship. I bought 9 roses from them. In the past, I have ordered from them online, and was very delighted with the roses I received. I was surprised that they still had roses most places were out of, such as Lamarque. They do not have everything listed on their web site that they carry, so if there is something you are looking for, email or call them.

sharong, thank you for that. Would you believe I bought an old hatrack yesterday and want to use it for a pillar rose. I found the link to the Petals/Past website, and the first rose I pull up is Madam Joseph Schwartz, wow, awesome, that would be perfect for my hatrack.

Then I had to click some more to check zone, 7-9 :-(. Won't work but I'll look at the others they offer. I'd love to have a Jude the Obscure climber but don't know how high it gets.

So that won't work. Now I need to find a pretty pillar rose, would like a splashy yellow for that.

It's cheap brass covered, and I am afraid that the sun on the brass would be so hot plants might not like it so I may have to spray it black or a darker color.

Someone told me that the people from Petals from the Past are related to the owners of ARE. They are extremely knowledgeable. I am addicted to that place, and eek--it's just 20 min. from my house! They have a cottage garden to die for. And they are so nice and helpful.

Your hat rack is so cute. Also try antique shops or flea markets for tripods.
