Making my own biochar from available charcoal

I have "pure" charcoal, meaning the solid type, not aggregated "bricks" which may contain adhesive substances. I thought of making charcoal powder out of it, which I can incorporate as biochar in the soil.

The pieces were much harder than I thought, and I initially laid them on the floor and ran over them with my car :-)
I got charcoal dust which I collected, but most pieces slipped out as I ran over them, and those that did crush remained as large pieces the size of pebbles.

Any better ideas? (I need a large amount). What is the optimal grain size, is charcoal dust good enough?
