Single Electric Wall Oven: WHY is it so hard to find a good one?
Comments (30)Although it seems a tangent, bear with me: I recently purchased a stick blender for my mother's birthday, the one I gave her years ago having bitten the proverbial dust. I started research on Amazon, only to find similar sorts of problems with this small appliance as those outlined in the original post here, i.e. so many brands either got glowing reviews or horror stories for the very same product. Quality seemed to be a roll of the dice, no matter how much you paid. I finally chose a popular brand, knowing that the blender could suddenly tank, but also knowing that reviewers said the customer service was outstanding. So, if we're left with mediocrity from the more accessible electric wall oven brands (like Bosh or Electrolux vs the costy Wolf), which have been most responsive when people have had a problem? Kitchenaid seems to have failed roundly in this respect over the past few years, so even if they've solved their problems, they aren't the brand for me. Comments (27)Don't know if you have an IKEA around, but if you do, check out their cushion covers (I think you can also order on line for many of them). They have some amazing choices for a very reasonable price, and their feather pillow stuffers are terrific, again at a good price (they are not down, but fowl feathers, and are a great deal - I have a ton of them). The Alvine Lov pillow is wonderful, all embroidered, and a good size for your couches. I have two of those - shades of yellow, green and a blue-grey. The Urusula could be a perfect neutral for in there, and is 26x26, so a good corner pillow, with something more colorful in front of that if you like. I also like the Benzy Land....See MoreWhy is powder detergent so hard to find?
Comments (46)Really frustrating part.. is there is no more Tide W/ Bleach Powder with a "clean" scent. The Clean Breeze scent... is gone. And the new "Original" scent... sticks to fabrics, and smells horrible. I was looking on the Tide website, last night. And I swear... it seems like there's a thousand less powders available. It's just, so modest, so little. Yet there's two million different liquids, in different scents. So... disappointing to say the least. Powder Wise. The ones I know I can find easily, locally are... Fab, Cheer, Tide, Gain, Xtra, Purex, All (F&C) and Arm & Hammer. Then there's American Ariel & Phosphate Free Foca and Roma. But... you better like whatever's on the shelf. Because there's typically just one or two different variety's. Sad... because when I was growing up, I remember shopping with my mom at Target... and seeing a one whole side, of an entire aisle of just Powder Detergents, in a million different options. Now... it's pretty slim. I think it's quite different overseas though. And in Mexico, almost everyone seems to use Powder, exclusively....See MoreWhy is Benjamin Moore Aura exterior so hard to find?
Comments (3)Laura, I just had my entire home painted in the Aura Exterior.. For the brick, the sample of satin was too shiny so I ended up with BM Aura exterior Low Lustre.. There is still a nice sheen but not quite as much as satin.. With the trim, I asked for semi-gloss at first, which we have always used, but ended up telling the painter to use satin.. It showed every imperfection and did not look good.. The painter came the next day with Low Lustre for the trim and what a difference.. It had a beautiful sheen but covered all the nicks and dents.. Then for the shutters, I used the satin. I do not mean to disagree with a pro but after always using semi-gloss and high gloss, I can see very little difference in the final application using Low Lustre. I now have 2 gals of Aura Exterior Satin left over that I will sell you....See Moreapg4
