Selecting an Electric Hedge Trimmer

I have a yew hedge that measures 150' by 6' wide by 8-9' high that has had its own way for a few years and needs to be humbled. I know gas trimmers offer more power but I see the convenience of an electric trimmer attractive.

Would like recommendations on what to look for in an electric trimmer. For a starting point for discussion, I've been looking at the B&D Hedgehog series 3.3 amp HH2450 that sells for $70 at Lowes and Home Depot. Anyone have experience with this model? Any recommendations for other brands that may be a step up? How useful is amperage as a measure of power when selecting an electric garden tool? Are more amps always better? Is there a point of diminishing returns?
