Craftsman opener - after replace gear & sproket
Comments (3)from the "other posts": RE: Craftsman Garage Door Opener Clarification * Posted by: kurtzj (My Page) on Mon, Jan 9, 06 at 12:05 help please. Installed the gear kit last night and now the door opens about 6 inches reverses for about 6 inches then stops. plus when the door is in the closed position, the opener is pushing the door down instead of pulling it up (door position and opener aren't in sync). any thoughts? o RE: Craftsman Garage Door Opener Clarification * Posted by: don_ null (My Page) on Mon, Jan 9, 06 at 13:45 Loosen the chain at the trolley and remove it from the small sprocket on top of the motor unit. Run the unit until the sprocket has turned counterclockwise and stopped. This is the open door position for the motor unit. With the door in the open position replace the chain and tighten. You may have to make minor adjustments to the up and down limits on the side of the motor unit. Do not over tighten the chain. It should sag a little when the door is closed. If it is overtightened you will hear a clicking noise when it is moving....See MoreCraftsman Garage Door Opener opens at random
Comments (8)Problem 1. Have you checked the batteries? I know it's basic but I have to ask. Problem 2. Sometimes the installers use staples that are not insulated on the wiring for the wall control. Make sure these have not cut through the insulation. This can cause intermittent operation. If you live near an air force base there can be other problems but I really haven't an answer for this. I have only heard the frequency used by opener companies belongs to the military and they are taking it back. Problem 3. Make sure the door sensors are pointed directly at one another. There is a small light on each sensor and they both need to be on to work properly. Make sure they are not blinking ever so slightly. I don't think your problems are related but..............See MoreCraftsman 1/2HP Garage Door Opener won't Open
Comments (4)If it is stuck in the open position you will most likely find the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. You will need to loosen the chain enough to release the tension and then run the opener until the door closes. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Tighten the chain....See MoreCraftsman Garage Door Opener Phantom Opening
Comments (5)Actually, I am finding that the top part of the controller may be causing my problem also. I have removed the cover off the top part of the controller to see if that is the problem. There are two tabs on the top of the controller cover that you need to depress in order to remove the cover. It has been about three days now since I removed it and I have had no phantom openings. You can still use the controller. You will see a small blue or green button when you remove the cover. One of the Sears repair persons told me to try that first. If that doesn't solve the problem, then the problem is in the wiring (Staple or something shorting out)and would then have to replace the wiring....See MoreDon_
