I have heard about a new rose Ayumi, by Keisei rose - very fragrant with a medal for fragrance, the picture is very nice yellow.

They tend NOT to tolerate deep winter chill.

Al, how about the Maria Stern Sub-zero Brownell rose? Very hardy, hybrid tea. Hardy up to zone 3 I believe. I'm getting one from Dutch Gardens myself. Beautiful looking orange color. (I'm sure they brighten up the color a little for the glossy pretty photo, but I hear Brownell roses are very robust).

Are you familiar with Soleil d'Or? It is a very hardy rose, yellow, with orange and peachy stripes, particularly noticeable in hot weather; and with a really good fragrance. It has one drawback Black spot! Some years it black spots something horrible here, others hardly at all. If you live in an area with dry and sunny summers it should do fine. A good rain shower now and then is all good, but hot and humid weather for weeks on end is not.

I'm not too sure about Happy Child. HMF lists it as hardy to Zone 5, but mine is not acting very hardy in Zone 6. Spring growth is very weak and slow. In fact, the first one looked so bad after barely surviving the winter, that I dug it up, assuming it must be a bad clone or something. My second one, however, has the same problem this spring--reduced to two tiny twiglets trying to grow taller than 5-6 inches.

Or maybe Happy Child just doesn't like me or my soil. Dunno. Absolutely gorgeous yellow bloom, when it does bloom.

Rainbow Sorbet has yellow and orange, in addition to a few other colors at times. It's one of the hardiest and healthiest I have here in zone 6. i think the colors vary by temps.
I bought another last year called Oranges and Lemons and it is yellow and orange, but I'm not sure on the hardiness.

Taoseeker- I am considering Soleil d'Or, if for no other reason than its historical significance. I live in BS hell, but I do spray.

Bustopher- How would you describe the scent of Caribeean? I just read about it on help me find, and the color is perfect. I like that its a Kordes, too.

Chuckbillie- Happy child looks like a good fit, too. Austins usually do well in my garden.

Kentstar- I grew Maria Stern last year and liked it. Not real prolific bloomer, but it was in kind of a bad spot. Fragrance and color were impressive though.

Cindi- Rainbow Sorbet looks beautiful. Ping Lim is doing great things with cold hardy varieties. I am growing Sweet Fragrance by him and love it.

My plan was to do a bed of just one variety about 15x5, but maybe I'll do one of each and see where that leads me.

I have an Oregold. It has vigorous, deep green foliage and big yellow blossoms to die for. There are problems, though. I do not know if they affect you.

Firstly, the blossoms are notoriously short-lived. I believe this feature is common to all yellow rose blossoms... or so I have heard.

The larger problem is the proclivity of this plant to become infected with fungus. I live in the "rust belt." That's not where iron is turned into cars... It's the Pacific Coast. We have dampness and mild temperatures, and the result is a rust season that lasts from November through June. And Oregold is the worst of my 13 bushes, for this unfortunate problem. Though I attribute some of the problem to the location of the plant in my garden, I am convinced this plant is genetically susceptible... big-time.

I believe the blossom has no fragrance.

What used to be a standard yellow rose, Sunsprite (Fresia) I don't see mentioned. I've never grown it having once had one but gave it away thinking it wasn't hardy enough. Now it seems it is.

There is another thread on yellow roses here where it is mentioned. A couple of posts weren't that enthusiastic. So there you have it!

David Austins Charlotte is a great yellow rose. Have you considered DAs Golden Celebration? I love mine. There was a guy that posted a pic. of GC on here last year that was at a monastery at San Juan, Capistrano....I still have dreams of that picture of GC....fantasyland...lol!!!

April Moon & Prairie Harvest are 2 Buck roses that may do well in your zone.

I had Sunsprite in a pot up north for almost 20 years (I overwintered it in my unheated attached garage in zone 4/5). I have seen it here without spots so I'm seriously considering getting it again this fall.

I am trying some Delbard roses this spring including France Info.

I put in Julia Child last year. I've been very pleased with her so far. She is an early bloomer and a luscious green. The scent from the blossoms is not overpowering but sweet. I've put some HT's in my garden and they can go hang for how finicky they are compared to some of the other kids that play in the garden.
Julia is about my best behaved child. I also have Scent from Above, which is a climber- in the front. I put this in again last year, cut it back to about 18 inches just before Christmas, and here in mid April it is already 4 feet tall.
The blossoms are a little on the dainty side, but gorgeous.
I got these both from JP.

Second that on Julia Child. Last year was my first for her and she has come back like a lion. You would never know how young of a rose it is considering the vigor I see in only April here. I would most certainly buy JC again.

Caribbean does not have a strong scent that I can remember. It does put out a fair number of flowers when happy. Mine has been trying to make a comeback from that awful Easter freeze two years ago.

I can also comment on Happy Child. I have one on its own roots that doesn't get any bigger than about 6 inches tall. It has pretty yellow flowers. I really like it, but in fairness, I ordered a grafted plant also. It is currently growing in my house until I can set it out. Some Austins are better grafted than on their own roots. The own root plants take extra time. I've seen that with Eglantyne.

As to other yellow floribundas, Sunsprite does reasonably well, but Shockwave outblooms just about all of them in a very bright yellow. Shockwave's flowers are on the small side, but there are usually plenty of them. Mine bloomed continuously in a pot all summer. Between it and Lili Marleen, I am not sure who blooms the most.

I LOVE Julia Child, Molineux and Honey Perfume, but as a lover of orange and yellow roses, I have two others to suggest.

Orange Fairy Tale and South Africa are both available from Palatine and both really impressed me. The picture of Orange FT on the Palatine site shows a bloom that is a bit of a different form, but I don't remember mine looking that way. I was particularly thrilled with the fact that the blooms didn't change to dishwasher- or some other shade of pink, like Tuscan Sun, Easy Livin', Gingersnap do. All these are gorgeous for awhile and break my heart when they change colour.

It wasn't a scalding hot summer here last year, so I can't say it will always be the case, but South Africa remained a strong golden yellow until the petals dropped. I was so pleased that I ordered two more this year!

Wishing was another find from Palatine last year. Lots of blooms, slightly on the pinkish side of orange. I was very pleased with it.

I have honey perfume. I see orange, apricot and yellow in mine. It smells really good too. I think it would suit you really well.

I recommend Honey Perfume. It is a workhorse in the garden, very hardy, smells great and looks nice. Another is Julia Child. My JC is only in it's first year. It made it through winter okay. Love the blooms and the bright, golden yellow. I have Golden Celebration and it can be a monster, even in zone 5. It needs constant pruning to control the octopus syndrome.
