Ravi: Yellowing and falling of leaves is one of the symptoms of bacterial disease. I don't know of anything that can be done about it once it is underway, but a young, healthy tree can usually stand one or two bouts of this disease. It will, however, weaken the tree during this growing season enough that any fruit you may have will be small and stunted. May as well take them off now. This next dormant season, spray your tree thoroughly with a strong copper compound, once at leaf fall and again just before bud break. That is the only effective way I know of to head off this disease, and it must be headed off before it develops. Don Yellman, Great Falls, VA

My brugs are holding up well so far. The hottest it's been was 106*. I planted most in ground last year. Those in ground have a deep layer of composted horse manure over them, and I haven't had to hand water them yet! Thank God, I couldn't water them in my condition anyway! oh no...I hope it's not spider mites...they're the devil. I spent over $50 trying to get rid of them off all 11 of my hot pepper plants last year and still never got a single pepper. :( Anyways, I can't see them. I agree with catman (dude, check out my contest post on Tomatoes...you can co-host/help with stuff if u want). They look fine. I say take them off the fluorescent bulbs. Maybe soak the soil good & put in sunlight heat if available. I'm thinking a tad bit too much heat caused this. Peace - Steve

Also just to make sure - the pot it's planted in has drainage holes? It's imperative to have drainage holes, or else you're going to have a lot of trouble keeping the plant happy. I can't comment on whether dropping 8-9 leaves is considered normal, maybe someone else here has can say, but you should be able to tell soon whether or not it's stabilizing. I think it's easy to panic when a plant with big leaves drops a few, because the leaves are just so big that it's jarring to see them fall off. I think as long as you continue to make sure you are watering only when it needs it, that it's getting good light and relatively stable temps, you should be good. For what it's worth, I'm also relatively new to FLF care, and I've slowly picked up bits and pieces through these forums and my own trial/error. You might also be interested in the info on this thread - Ficus in containers. It's a lot of info to digest but super useful.
