How should I prune these shrub roses?

I've watched several videos and looked at multiple links/posts.

From what I gathered you should use the 1/3 method...select the strongest canes and cut back to a point where you see plenty of white wood (cut made 1/4" above an outward swelling bud) and cut the rest out.

But there where also a few that actually just cut the entire plant within 12" of the ground (cut made 1/4" above an outward swelling bud) and cut out dead wood to the ground.

What should I do with these?

There are so many canes and it looks like it would be tough to cut some of the canes to the ground.

The rabbits have already done some pruning over the winter.
