The 2013 Catalog for the Historic Sacramento City Cemetery's Open Garden and Sale of Historic and Rare Roses is now available for your enjoyment.

For the first time, we have produced (in addition to the illustrated catalog) a Text-Only "Printer-Friendly" version, for those who download more slowly, or who wish to print out only a list.

You'll find both versions at the websites of:

And I believe they will soon be up on the Cemetery Garden's own website.

I hope you enjoy the catalog -- and I hope to see some of y'all at Open Garden. I'll be the one walking a Long-Haired Dalmatian dog, and a camera. (My husband will be the one with TWO Long-Haired Dalmatian Dogs.)

Hi, Deron - looking forward to seeing you again at Open Garden! While we don't have White Pearl this year, we have Elisabeth's Red China, which blooms constantly. It grows a bit more upright, I think. It has the added benefit of fragrance. It's more like Cramoisie Superieur than WPIRDM, perhaps. I honestly don't have the red Chinas straight, one from another - apparently they were grown from seeds and the distinctions between the plants aren't very clear. We also have Bengal Fire, which seems to be the same as Vintage's Miss Lowe's Variety, the Sanguinea which is grown in Europe, and the Bengal Crimson that I saw in England. I think it could be a very large rose but my friend who gave it to the cemetery has grown his in a container for five years, and it's four feet tall and three feet wide for him. Both of these roses were in full bloom in December and have had scattered bloom all winter long. Amazing roses. Anita

That is "Tamalpais Homestead Tea," a Tea-or-Old-HT collected in the Mt. Tam area of Mill Valley. Pretty delicious, I think. Kippy -- 18 April is a little early for most of the roses up in the Sierra Foothills. Late May might be more like it. Maybe even very early June -- depending upon the weather. The rose garden is beautiful and full of blooms. Please come by and visit Saturday morning before it gets above 80 :). Free. No admission price; however donations gladly accepted.

I think, at some point, they may publish a list of 'onesy-twosey's'. And that'd be great. But there's some great stuff there.

A wonderful catalog. And like all good catalogs make me want to get everything :-).

Here is a photo of the Elisabeth's China that I bought last year. Of all the plants I bought last year, this one stands out as one of the more shapely one-year old plants I have.

Anne, it's really doing well in our area, too. Very, very healthy all the time, and she's sure going to be a bloomer. The fragrance is a bonus. :-)

The catalog looks so great! I went on the early bloom tour and everything looks fantastic- some of the early once-bloomers are really at their peak right now but it sure looks like it's going to be a magnificent show for the Open Garden (God/weather/spirits/sprites/etc. willing).
