Jeri - Mine is the bush form. My grandparents in San Francisco had one, and my grandfather always wore a bud in his buttonhole. When my grandmother died, he moved to Burlingame, but he took the bush with him. And when HE died, my parents took the bush to Menlo Park, where we were living at the time. All of us who grew up with it remember it fondly. It's a delight to read the history of its use in cemeteries - I will pass that on to my sister, who will also like to know that. Jbfoodie - Thank you for the photo. So often, the photos one can find on the web and in books are of the blossom only, but they don't show the growth habit. It is SO encouraging to read about your roses in containers on a balcony!!! I, too, have all my first Old Roses in containers on my balcony. They were all in bands from Vintage, three of them received in the Spring, and three more that I bought from Vintage quite recently. Because we went through a protracted move from Merced, CA to Sacramento, CA this summer, the Spring ones (which I had potted up when I got them) spent June and July in the garden of relatives here in Sacramento, but they are on my balcony now. The other three are also potted up doing OK. FIRST GROUP: Devoniensis - still with the relatives, but doing all right, not growing a lot. Mme. Antoine Mari - doing very well, in spite of my having made a few mistakes. Only a few flowers, but getting ready to give me a few more on longer, more vigorous canes. Nigrette - a small 1935 HT, doing very well, and with a lovely growth habit. NEW GROUP: These are not all Old Roses, as my sister wanted Oklahoma. Mlle. Jeanne Philippe - came with a few lovely little light yellow blooms on it (blooms should eventually be apricot). Hanging in there. Mlle. Cecile Brunner, the shrub - swinging right into action, making new branches, buds, etc. Oklahoma - also came with a bloom and bud, truly gorgeous in color, it is now apparently working on roots. I don't really have enough sun, either, but I'm going to give it a good try. So far I've been moving the pots around, trying to find the optimum sun conditions for each of them. Parts of my balcony get about five to six hours of sun, but it's afternoon sun and can be terribly hot in the summer. It was too much for little Nigrette in the last hot spell, about 3 weeks ago, and I moved her into the shade as soon as I realized it. To know that your roses have done so well in even a bit less sun has really made me feel more optimistic!! Thanks, Laura

Lady Hillingdon--for sheer remontance and color of bloom Rosette Delizy-a fountain of blooms, always Clementina Carbonieri-beautiful color,exceptional rebloom Devoniensis--smells so good, blooms so beautiful Mme. Berkeley--beautiful, the cleanest foliage, no pm at all Marie van Houtte--sturdy, blooming, beautiful Mme. Lombarde--one of the best fragrances of the teas Maman Cochet--exquisite blooms, see my gallery on French mamans Mlle. Franziska Kruger--exquiste, balls in the Spring but lovely ever after. Souv. de Therese Lovet, a fine small red tea Souv. de Claudious Denoyal--even better, redder, and a great rose fragrance, love this rose. thank you ingrid for the warm welcome - i'm so happy to meet you here on a fascinating theme. tea roses are indeed a rare thing in germany and rather for freaks...but we're getting more and more... i'm participating in a set of tealovers and found the way to you via morrisnoor about identification of some doubtfull teas in european collections and commerce. we have the same problems as the oz tealovers in this regard. thus i hope that i will find here some answers to open questions concerning mislabeled, forgotten and found specimens. ahhhhh..the rest of the fovourites...it's hard to say much about because they are still little plants that i've purchased one year ago. among them the better known items of the lists above. in a few weeks will arrive some found teas from vintage which we feared they would give up their business. let's tell me more next season..the total listing of my plants you will find on hmf. let me at least apologize for my halting english. best, kai-eric
