Lilac never bloomed

Hi. I have a lilac in my backyard - It's never bloomed, even though it is at least 5 years old and very healthy and mature looking. There are others back there - same size, same age, same location, same water, sunlight, soil, etc. that have bloomed. Any ideas?

If it doesn't get enough sun, it might not bloom.

If it does get sun, ... don't fertilize it, ... don't prune it, ... but do take a spade and dig into the root-zone a bit. Don't dig it up ... or dislodge it ... just threaten it a bit.

Repeat blooming lilac?

'Colby's Wishing Star' is the one pictured below. I have never been fond of lilacs, they are shy and undependable bloomers for me. Also, single season of interest is a big negative in any shrub. This is the second blooming of 'CWS' the first one having been dead-headed. Pix taken today. This is a respectable showing for a lilac in summer. While the fragrance is not like the old fashioned vulgaris types, it is sweet and pleasant. Now my question, if I deadhead these flowers, will I get a third blooming this year?

need a pic.. cant really figure out how this can happen with a lilac??? .. one of the most indestructible plants on the face of the earth ... powdery mildew on L is irrelevant.. imo.... there is nothing to save.. you cant kill them .... ignore it.. do not prune in fall ... ken

"i m voting on not mature enough ... since the transplant ... and you cant count.. if you did.. flowering in the pot you bought it in ... sooner or later.. you arent going to be able to get to that electric box .... if thats important ... do you see any other lilacs blooming within 10 miles of your place ... lilac set their buds in fall .. you can literally see them .. though very small ... L is rejuvenation pruned .. ALWAYS .. no tip pruning ... EVER .... ken" Actually, it came with the house. I would say it's pretty old, at least dating back to the 80's. I don't think that I have never seen another lilac near my area, there are some here and there up in the mountains (but that's a completely different climate, z6). "Vulgaris shouldn't be capitalized when used after Syringa." I only done that because it is in a title. "Lilacs in northern VA only bloom well after "polar vortex" type winters. If winter is mild, bloom is sparse. Last winter was a doozy and the lilacs were magnificent. Thus, homeowners rushed out to buy lilacs. This year has been extremely mild & those lilacs won't bloom much." It didn't bloom in 2014, which I guess was a polar vortex winter (we got about 4 big snowstorms).
