unlike the other .. this one you could tear it out with the truck.. and replant it anywhere you want.. and have 90% chance of success ... if you gently grab the sucker.. in the 2nd pic.. and tug on it.. you will probably expose some roots.. snip it off with the root attached .. and there is your plant ... a duplicate .... these are a full sun plant.. once they get over transplant shock ... next spring.. after bloom.. i would whack down that whole top part.. and let it rejuvenate from down low ... you will have to try real hard to kill a lilac ... this one is NOT worth paying someone to move .... ken.. in adrian mi

Plant them in soil I wouldn't cut the bad part off. But they should all perk up in moist soil. Good luck and we love pictures.

TY for the update! Definitely still alive! Washing it off right away probably helped a lot. This should be inspirational, encouraging for whoever else might read this, from a similar situation. Accidental & "neighbor sprays" are pretty common. Putting a little mulch &/or compost around the base (but not touching trunks) is usually appreciated by any plant that's tall enough. Helps to moderate soil temp & moisture, increase fertility. A cute little border of bricks or whatever you'd like to look at can help keep grass from creeping in, mow with chute aimed away from bed areas. Doubtful these need water every day. I'd stop doing that unless it doesn't rain for a week or so or you see wilting. Too much water can make plants ill. Assuming they're still alive next year, shouldn't need to be watered unless it doesn't rain for more than 2-3 weeks during really hot weather. Good luck, lilacs!

please see link on proper planting ... which includes planting in april .. not june ... the plant had little time.. to settle in before summer heat and drought ... watering should be deep and infrequent.. with near drying in between such ... insert finger to 3 inches.. and find out when it needs water ... no spraying the leaves .. i never water my 15 year old Ls .. and in severe heat and drought.. they droop every afternoon .. and recover every night ... presume your stock comes disease free .. i have grown Ls for 4 decades.. and never did anything to them other than water them the first year ... do not spray it .. do not cut stuff off it ... on some level.. i fear you may have tried to love it to death ... these are what i call .. run it over with the truck plants .... they simply shouldnt be problematic ... but for a large plant.. improperly planted ... good luck .. ken https://sites.google.com/site/tnarboretum/Home/planting-a-tree-or-shrub
