GTKY - Random questions.
Comments (44)Enjoying GTKY, OK, I'll play, even though I'm a marketingresearchaphobe... 1. Coffee, tea or soda? Coffee only with Bailey's, Sweet Tea, please mam and Dr Pepper, the one in the 8oz bottle made with Imperial Pure Cane Sugar instead of icky corn syrup, phffthhtthhhh! 2. Do you live in an urban or rural area? Suburban, planned, golf course community owned by the city, complete with "experimental outdoor mall", LOL! I really like it though. 3. What was the last item you purchased other than food? A new everyday plastic pitcher and Pinelogs (they're all I can use due to DH's allergies). 4. Do you subscribe to a daily newspaper? No, gave that up a few years ago. Hated to do it since I'm a print designer, but it was a matter of economics, not principles. 5. Who called you on the phone last? My sweet friend, Marti. 6. What is your favorite TV show? Hell's Kitchen 7. What is your favorite TV news source? Fox, local or FNC. 8. Credit or Debt? Debit for the most part. 9. Paper, plastic or do you bring your own bags? Have one, don't keep, should have been a NY resolution, ha! 16. Do you have a bucket list? I joke about it from time to time, but do I really have a running tally? Nope. 17. What is your least favorite chore? Toilets, I just won't do 'em, 'nuf said! 18. What book are you reading? Just finished Rainwater by Sandra Brown (smarmy love story, but interesting because I love depression era novels), just started Witch & Wizard by James Patterson, my first JP novel, jury's still out....See Morerandom 3 and 5 inch planks, will it look odd?
Comments (2)I used 3"-7" random width and length (1'-8') site finished. We like it (see link). It gives a "sheet of wood" look. This is because your eye do not recognize a pattern. Because we used #1 common and rift and quartered (uniform linear grain), you do notice the natural irregularities in the wood (mostly mineral streaks, ray fleck, some knots), and this is also what we wanted. The tung oil based finish in satin also highlights the wood and not the finish. We also have 3" engineered downstairs with full beveled sides and ends. Some people do not like the full beveled for cleaning or refinishing reasons, but the beveled ends do break up the repeating nature of the uniform 3" plank. This floor is pre-finsihed with a thick and glossy (plasticky) finish. So I would say that a mix of two widths, done properly, will break up the uniform pattern of having a single width floor. It all depends on the look you are after. Here is a link that might be useful: Waterlox on Oak...See MoreOdd Question: Do you use lighting during the day?
Comments (36)Unless it's really dark/cloudy outside, we don't really need lights on during the day except in the cooking part of our kitchen. While it does get some light from windows on the north and west wall during the day, and probably doesn't need lights on when in there, we usually do turn on at least one light when we are in there during the day. Unfortunately, the south wall has most of our cabinetry plus our stove and fridge, and it directly faces our neighbor's house/kitchen window, so we don't have any windows on that wall which would bring a ton of light. If we ever get around to remodeling it, I want to add at least one window on that wall - even just one would add a lot of light. Today it's cloudy but still kind of bright outside, but the kitchen light is on - mainly b/c my kids never turn it off! If i'm home alone, I only turn it on if I'm actually in there. No other lights on in the house at the moment though. Our family room has 10 windows on three walls and the other "wall" is a huge opening to our eating area of the kitchen, so that room gets a ton of natural lighting. Aside from the kitchen, the only other "dark" room in the house is my boys' bedroom but even still, it has a south facing window so gets enough light during the day, plus they are rarely in there during the day anyway - at school! I have one light in our living room on a timer in the winter - the window faces the front street side, right near the front door. We don't really use that room much at night, but I think it makes the house look more welcoming from the outside, plus it means no one coming home alone (esp my kids) enters into a completely dark house....See MoreOdd diagnosis! My underwear is all wrong.
Comments (34)At home I like to wear Nike light sports bras like the Nike "Indy" sports bra. It has removable pads that I always yank out immediately. I haven't found many bralettes that work well with my cup size, but would love to hear recommendations from others. I almost always wear underwires out and about because my chest seems to look better with the underwire. Not sure if it's the support or shaping or what. I really like Warner's bras and I have a "Play it Cool Wire-Free Cooling Racerback" that I do like without the underwire. Looks like Warner's has quite a few wireless bras. I'd recommend giving Warner's a try....See Moremikebotann
