ATTN: Entomologists or other bug experts

It is a beautiful day here so I decided to make some alfalfa tea with alfalfa bought last year but kept in a

Rubbermaid container with lid all winter. After pouring the alfalfa into the bottom of the garbage can and then covering the alfalfa with water, I noticed lots and lots of weevils and weevil larvae( I think) floating on the top. When the can was filled I looked closely at them and they do not seem to be moving, so maybe I drowned them. Should I discard this and start over with new alfalfa? Besides the yuck factor, will these weevil larvae hatch and cause damage or will any live weevils hurt my plants or affect my soil in any adverse way? Or will the protein be good for the soil? Also, I don't want to encourage any predator bugs or rodents that might be attracted by these tasty treats. Please help! Buff
