This is a book we've been waiting for for years. I believe it will be available in August.
I'm awaiting expanded information on ordering.

The HRF thread linked below will show just how eager some of us have been.
Elsewhere, there's mention that it might be available in Canada slightly earlier this year.
Any leads to quickened availability are most welcome.

I am out of state on vacation, but am thankful I checked gardenweb this morning with my laptop. Just got off the phone placing my order for this book with Ashdown. I'm thrilled to be getting this book earlier than I had anticipated, and at a price slightly lower than expected, even with shipping added. Hugs go to Jeri. And thank you Ashdown! Thank goodness for these tea lovers in Australia. Can we make Australia the 51st state? No, I don't suppose they'd be interested ... but I do love the folks down under! Randy

Rosefolly, hope you got a giggle out of those photos. I wish I would have taken a full set of photos of every thing I did around my parents place. But I never thought anything less than a dozer and dump truck would be needed and was embarrassed about the condition of their place. That feeling guilty you "let" your parents live like that and knowing that they would not allow me to do anything to clean it up. It took my dad turning 90 and a letter from the insurance company to get them to allow me to start cleaning it up. Even then Mom thought a fresh rope would "fix" the problem with the fence. I look back at that before photo every time I think that progress is too slow or hard work is not making a difference. It is good to have a reminder that you have come far on days you feel overwhelmed or like things are not going as planned. (Funny story-I had helped mom "fix" the roof on that shed with the blue tarp years before. But the tarp was covered in leaves that were wet and slowly sinking in the rotting roof. So I planned on pulling that tarp toward me to replace it. I was standing on the orchard ladder clearing the leaves while mom and my youngest son went to look for mandarines in the garden. They heard the loudest "Girl Scream" and both came running assuming I had fallen from the ladder. No I had come face to face with an unhappy opossum that had made a nest up there and was not happy to be evicted)

thank you ingrid for the warm welcome - i'm so happy to meet you here on a fascinating theme. tea roses are indeed a rare thing in germany and rather for freaks...but we're getting more and more... i'm participating in a set of tealovers and found the way to you via morrisnoor about identification of some doubtfull teas in european collections and commerce. we have the same problems as the oz tealovers in this regard. thus i hope that i will find here some answers to open questions concerning mislabeled, forgotten and found specimens. ahhhhh..the rest of the fovourites...it's hard to say much about because they are still little plants that i've purchased one year ago. among them the better known items of the lists above. in a few weeks will arrive some found teas from vintage which we feared they would give up their business. let's tell me more next season..the total listing of my plants you will find on hmf. let me at least apologize for my halting english. best, kai-eric

Ah yes it probably is rutilans...I love the deep purply velvet stamen! SnB, the pots I have are all bought at cheap stores!!! As for the black ones, they are all going to go...it is too hard to maintain a good watering schedule through winter with these pots as they are glazed inside...the square one that the monstrose is in is not glazed inside or on bottom, these are great pots for those that I do not water lots. Ones that have a higher schedule are in terracotta or plastic. You should see that Helianthocereus bud now!! It's gonna be red or deep orange, and it may happen tonight, along with Echinopsis 'stars and stripes'!!! Yay!! Wazzimodo.

The Tea Bags (yes, that IS what the authors call themselves) have done it for me.

FYI - even though it shows as unavailable on Amazon.com you can pre-order from Amazon Canada (amazon.ca) - my account shows estimated shipment mid-July...

I preordered my from Amazon Canada in January with the estimated shipment in July. I often order from Amazon Canada, it usually works great.

So .....

Have you guys ordered the book from Ashdown yet?
They sent emails out today that they are offering the book. It'll be mailed out in late May / early June. Each order sends a donation to HRF. They have 3 adobe documents offering previews. It looks like a very good book.

But the previews make me wonder if the tea roses in Australia will be the same as what we have offered in the US?

If I wasn't such a tea afficianado it probably wouldn't be worth the money - over $50! Most of my books are free cause they come from the library!

I just got my order in through Ashdown today. Got an email from them saying they'll be carrying it. Actually I'd pre-ordered through Amazon Canada, but there's does not become available till August - so I canceled that order and put it in through Ashdown. Can't wait to get my hands on this book.

Weathersby -- The U.S. and Canada share most of the Teas -- tho they have some we do not.
(And because of government-imposed restrictions, we cannot order from Oz. Long story.)

On Found Teas, their study names may differ, but even there, they have more or less the same roses we do.

My daughter Jessica just called me to say she had ordered me this book from Barnes and Nobles!!! I am shocked! I am usually the one to spring little surprises on her since she is in college. But the little sneak surprised ME this time! I am almost in tears because I am so happy....I am thrilled she got me this book!!!

Deb -- There's a problem with that Barnes & Noble thing.
They "advertised" it at a really low price.
They've told the Publisher that they will either cancell those orders, or request the increased $$$.
I think that's a real cheesy way to do business, but you might want to suggest that your daughter check with B&N on it.

I just put my order in with Ashdown, within minutes of spotting the email. I can hardly wait, plus they donate part of the proceeds to the Heritage Rose Foundation!
