I'll back up pineresin on this; snaxs's cladogram does not say the same thing as the TOL cladogram. The two trees are not the same, with one showing a lack of resolution (trichotomy) where the other shows resolution (dichotomy). Again, little point in arguing with somebody who keeps insisting they can read a cladogram when they apparently can't. Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out what that blinking "Resin's water lilies" refers to.

I do love your Fantastic! Beautiful plants. Since you have a contained space in the planter, it shouldn't be too difficult to move your agave. I have no idea how the roots, pups will be intertwined with your other plants. But with patience I think you can do it. (You must already have patience with wee ones at home, huh?) I bought my agave at the plant show/sale at Rotary Park - probably in March? It had 8 pups in the pot and was 5 bucks! After I unpotted it, I removed the pups. Maybe I'm a wimp, but twisting them off like the guy told me was too difficult. I couldn't get any to twist off, so I used my handy sharp knife to remove them. Some had roots and a couple did not. All survived. If I were you, I'd remove the pups when you decide to move the agave. I should point out that the K. luciae will pup without flowering. It can make a nice mat of plants for you. But once it decides to bloom, even cutting off the flowers won't stop the plant's eventual decline. So you should enjoy the flowers. You will get a lot more plants to enjoy in the end. I planted 4 on an island out front. I got some pups, filling in the area, and then this year 3 decided to bloom. I will try to take a picture tomorrow. Hi! Lily height varies a great deal depending on weather and garden placement - so it isn't a good indicator of bloom number. (Commercial potted lily growers tightly control conditions to favor a short strong stem.) I'm in zone 7 and my Stargazers have only just started to get buds even though they are also about 3.5' tall. (The buds are QUITE tiny and hidden away under the very newest leaves.) The same is true for my Siberia and Marco Polo lilies. All three of these are Orientals which bloom in late summer. My L. Regale and Elegant Lady (earlier blooming trumpet and Longiflorum lilies) are well budded out. At the far end of the spectrum, my Speciosum Rubrum lilies, (very late blooming), don't have any buds at all yet. The "Catherine the Great" lily in the previous post is an Orienpet which, thanks to the Trumpet part of its heritage, generally blooms earlier thant the Orientals. (Lucky you Todd you got a two-fer! They should be beautiful when they bloom.) So I'm not surprised that in zone 5 you aren't seeing any buds on your Stargazers yet. As long as their tips didn't get damaged (like some of mine that got munched by slugs, @#$%!!! ) you should be fine. -Helen

The porch is at the top of the stairs and we can also see it out of the window in the kitchen. We are up close as we walk down the stairs to the garden. Ken, Planned? HA! The plant was a tiny baby and got decapitated by the hose. Just a stub was left in the ground and I was so bummed that I left it to live or die as it wanted! lol It did grow from the little stub and as it grew, side branches, almost like waterspouts came bursting out from the lowest branches. They grew taller and taller and I thought that was pretty neat! lol So I left them to see just how tall they could get. Many of my garden buddies suggested cutting them, but obviously, I did not. LOL As the branches covered the ugly lattice I appreciated their lust for life! haha Luis, the flowers don't change much like most of the other hydrangeas and will eventually just fall off. I was at a meeting where Dan Hinkley was the speaker and I asked him if he would like to see how his introduction was doing. I sent pictures and he wrote back 'WOW!' Wait till I send him pics of one of his asperas mountain hydrangeas that is approaching 18 feet at least! And another aspera Plum Passion that is about to top off at 8 feet and 8 - 10 feet wide. I will get some pics when they are blooming.
