A drought-tolerant cold-hardy every-green and red-flowered Mag

Am I asking too much? Nope.

The family of Magnolia never ceases to amuse us. There exists an evergreen Magnolia tree that thrives in temperatures anywhere between 5 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit (-15 ~ 40 Celsius). Originated from inaccessible mountains of Northern Sichuan and Hupei, it is more drought tolerant than Siberian elm. The Chinese capital Beijing (dry, zone 7) has used it in city planning since 2007. It blooms from April to July. The plastic-looking flowers are abundant in clusters. The color is deep orange to tomato red.
