Comments (12)is your yard so small.. that you have to put a bed right on the fence line???? whose fence is it.. where is the property line ... if they put it up properly.. it should be on their property .... having a good relationship with the neigh[pun]-bor .... is way more important than you using that extra foot or two of the garden .. and considering they have horses.. i suspect you are not on some 50 foot square yard yourself ... i guess.. personally ... i would just keep the bed 3 or 4 feet from the fence.. and figure out how to do the verticals ... without infringing on the fence WHY RISK IT .... ken...See Moreyard long beans grow but won't flower and won't produce
Comments (8)I have the exact problem - vigorous vines but no flowering for 2 years now in the same location that 3 years and before I had many beans. My treliis is actually an arbor than can be walked under @ 7 feet high. My pH is 7-7.5, micronutrients are not lacking, N is low but P &K are excessive. Am adding sulfur to lower pH but suspect the problem is something else. I've checked into toxicants from tree roots (not too far away) but not sure on that. I regularly add hardwood leaf compost mixed with grass clippings so am wondering if that is a factor. Sunlight is 6 hours a day so don't think that's the problem. We had severe Spring droughts for the past 2 years, but I've watered every other day though wonder if I was getting enough down for uptake during the bloom period. Temperatures were excessive - mid 90's- so am suspecting that as the main culprit. Am to the point of pruning the layering vines in hopes of getting results when things cool in the Fall. I've typically had excellent blooming & bean production just before the first frost. Other experiences? Advice?...See Morewhy won't it flower?
Comments (5)Garden, The common name for Spathiphyllum is Peace Lily..this is not an outdoor plant for z7..it's tropical. First, there's many varieties of Spaths, from mini's to big 5'. The most common are those of medium height, about 12-16". Spaths like to be a little potbound, so if you've repotted to large a pot, you'll have to wait unil roots fill the pot, then flowers will form..What size was growing pot, and if you repotted what size pot did you set in? A good balanced fertilizer will also help. Once a month is appropriate, but follow container directions. It's said Peace Lily's can live in shade, but I disagree..in order for it to flower, it needs bright light. You do not need to set in south or west window iin summer, a few feet away fill do..an east window is ideal. When you bought the plant was it in flower? If so, then there isn't any reason other than what I mentioned above why it shouldn't rebloom. Water soil well, but allow to dry out a bit..Top 3" should look and feel dry. Some ppl wait until leaves wilt a bit between waterings. Also, make sure soil is well-draining. not heavy..Good luck, Toni...See MoreNematanthus won't flower
Comments (31)I agree with Irina's comment about Exotic Angel's plant labels. I picked up a Hoya Lacunosa and the tag literally read " I go by the name House Plant, give me medium light." Lol what a joke. I bought Nematanthus Corticola because the long tendril-like blooms look a lot like Nepenthes which I used to grow in high school. Literally did nothing. I repotted it when I received it in its 2.5" pot into a 4" pot and it grew one small, bright green leaf during the summer here in NC then when I brought it inside for the winter with my orchids it sulked. The most stubborn thing I've ever seen so I threw it outside in my garden and just bought another one. I'm hoping it was just a bad clone/cutting. The same thing happened to my AF 'Cirelda' years ago. This time around I think I'll skip the perlite in place of sphagnum moss mixed with vermiculite and a standard soiless mix. Being epiphytic, I mixed the aforementioned Nematanthus with small fir bark chips and potting soil. Maybe the wood was eating up all the N before I gave it a chance to be released back in the soil....See Moreginny12
