Finally back online, tech took machine back and rebuilt, as we read googling that indeed the machines sometimes do eat up the files from folders, go figger. The only way I could save from being eaten was put on the desktop, and am still going with that format til I know for sure it doesn't happen again. What do you think could have been the problem? The tech said he did a lot of research, went to his gurus etc., and found no real answers, and when I did google, I didn't understand the lingo much myself, but then, am not literate about the machines anyway. I am currently in the process of getting reacquainted with my machine, had just gotten some comfy with it, and will not in the future be adding much extra til I know for sure things are right and proper with it to begin with. Was mentioned there is a free program out there that would sort of "freeze" my machine, and allow me to try some programs/addons before I really decided to install and use, does anyone know of this? I have undone any of the extra things I added to the mix, and gradually will seek things out again, but thank you all for your help and support this has been somewhat of an experience for me, hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. Name that free program if you can, and let me know where I might find info on it. tech couldn't remember the name, tho he has used it with some success. Especially for parents whose kiddos like to install things and shouldn't. Thanks owbist, you always are so calm and collected with all the info you give out, are you a tech behind the scenes?

This is one of those situations where a "Sharkbite" press on union will work fine. Carefully cut the pex right through the hole, then press the sharkbite on and your finished.... It could be worse,,,I once went on an HVAC call and found the guy was getting ready for deer season so he stacked 3 hay bales in the back yard and put a target up to practice. He was using a compound bow & magnesium arrows. From about 200' away his first shot went right through the bullseye of the target, through the haybale, another 40 feet and through the outer housing of his AC condensing unit, through the control section, through the outer housing of the compressor and came to rest in the motor windings. Needless to say, it instantly shorted out the electrical to the unit so bad that it actually blew the breaker out of his primary electrical service entrance panel, and to add insult to injury, the magnesium arrow caught on fire. Not only did he have to replace the condensing unit, but he also had to replace the electrical SE panel, but that was not worst of it.... He had one of those loud nagging wives who spent the whole time I was working on the AC stomping around the yard cussing at him and saying stuff like,,,"You know that money you saved for your hunting trip, well there it is right there" or "When you get the urge to go hunting, you can come out here and look at that new AC unit, thats your hunting trip for about the next 5 years" or "you might as well hang your damn deer tag on that junk,,,cause that is your limit for this season" and on and on and on she went...I actually felt sorry for the guy.....LOL

I don't know, but I do know they pull threads that can be controversial and cause problems. Religion and politics often fall into that category.

I'm an old timer too. Started right in the beginning, don't remember the year. I was a New Yorker then and saw an article in the NY Times about a new website called Garden Web. Spike was in charge (Yikes, did he give me a few tours of Disney). Topics were hot back then. Lots of posters. Lots of arguments. Being a New Yorker, I was a orchid grower, organic gardener, many outdoor garden beds both flower and vegetables. I miss Gary so much. He always posted on Orchids. I often wonder about him and how he is doing. There were so many people who disappeared on Orchids and Organic Gardening. Having moved to Florida 5 years ago, I discovered the Florida Gardening site and enjoy trying to learn the ins and outs of hot weather, buggy gardening while maintaining my organic style. Tricky! I miss the old posters. So many are gone. I made wonderful friends and met many people through Garden Web. I do see the membership declining and the activity on many of their sites almost absent. Its a shame. There is so much to be learned from gardeners in the area you live. Can't get that from a book! Jane
