Inherited existing rose bush with long brown 'trunk'...

Hello! I have very basic rose gardening skills, and have grown my own roses before, but I have moved into a new house and inherited four rose bushes with it. One of them has very long, brown, woody 'trunks', with the new growth starting at the tops of them, which is a few feet up. The other plants are much smaller, and I am not sure what to do with this tall one. Can I cut it down so that new growth will begin much lower? I don't mind a tall bush, but when the first 2-3' are nothing but bare wood/stem, I don't find it very attractive. I've never cut a bush down below the brown, woody part, so I don't know if I'll destroy the plant by doing so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! : )

Thanks!!
