David Austin Backlash... Well post your FAV Austin Pic here.
Comments (146)Tess is such a good rose. It was on the bush 6 days and just kept getting poofier and poofier but held together. Its been a dry heat and in the 90's this past week plus uber smoky from the wildfires and literally 'raining' ash some days. Gotta love Tess! Some others doing well in the wicked heat TIMF Litchfield Angel Jude the Obscure...I swear I couldnt get enough pics of him the other day!! He is sooo ~Dreamy~ I'm obsessed with the way the buds look half open. I could get lost in those buds for hours!...See Moreyour favorite Austin rose?
Comments (36)All my favorites are being listed here, and for those of us who are DA rose lovers I really don't think I have a favorite. I currently have; Abraham Darby, Golden Celebration, Queen of Sweden, Heathcliff, Glamis Castle, Lady of Shallott, and Munstead Wood. Out of that group, five of them are show-stopping stunners: Abraham Darby- HUGE blooms- pink/apricot in color, and very fragrant, Golden Celebration- Again- HUGE blooms, deep golden yellow, that morphs into a creamy yellow. The fragrance of GC is incredible! If you have a bouquet in your house, you will smell it from yards away! Next I would go with Lady of Shallott. The color is a vibrant apricot color- that is hard to describe, but it's a prolific grower, and you will get many blooms, and it's diseases resistant too! One rose that hasn't been mentioned here is "Heathcliff." His blooms are HUGE! He is an upright rose, and very disease resistant. His color is a deep magenta/fuchsia color. His fragrance is unique and not overpowering. Next I would go to Munstead Wood. Everything people say about this rose is absolutely true! The color is stunning! It runs a deep garnet-purple color, and is absolutely stunning! Truth be told- you cannot go wrong with buying a DA Rose. It is worth every single penny you invest, and it will last you for years and years. I have been growing them now for about 15 years, and I HAVE to get a new one each year! Comments (33)I have only two ('Prospero' and 'The Prince'), but I don't know if I'd recommend them for you. They're not tremendously vigorous (mine are own-root), but I saw that as an asset for where I planted them. I wanted them because I grew them once before, and was willing to put up with their "issues" to enjoy them again. If I had the space for some of the more recent (and more vigorous) DA reds, I'd get some of the others mentioned here. I think the more vigorous ones would be better bets in your climate, since they'd bounce back better after Winter damage. :-) ~Christopher...See MorePost up photos of your David Austin roses
