I don't see any responses to my original post here. So either my question is too boring for words (probably), or no one in my area grows this rose (maybe), or I've somehow offended and no one will talk to me (what did I do/say?!?).

But if anyone cares to take pity on me ;-), I'm still interested in whatever you can tell me about this rose. For now, I'm kinda stuck between choosing it or Angel Face -- (still don't care for the name); both seem like they would meet my requirements.

I don't have it but I just googled it. It is very very pretty. I remember wanting it for a while when I saw its picture awhile back.

Info I have from googling: it is very black spot, mildew and rust resistant and has AASR rating of 8.3. You can read more yourself. Google has a habit of finding interesting reviews sometimes. If all fails, call Regan Nursery in Fremont California. They carry it, they may know few things about it and may also be able to compare it with Angle face.

All that said, some times you have to try it in your own yard to find out. I have two Heaven On Earth which have been purchased at the same time, planted at the same time and next to each other. One rusts like crazy the other does not. HOE is suppose to be rust and mildew resistant too.

Let us know what you find out.

I grew it for years as a pot rose, but I'm not in SoCal 9, so I can't tell you how it would do for you in that specific region.

Judy, the answer may be that no one has experience with it.
Sometimes you just have to take the plunge, and be a "test garden."
Who is offering it, in the U.S.?

While I have no experience with E.M., I did grow Angel Face.
I am convinced that all of the roses of that breeding line came into the world with a Death Wish.
IOW, none are terribly vigorous.
They are at their worst if the roots dry out before they're planted.

Pretty rose. Nice fragrance. And occasionally, you find a vigorous one.

Judy, I saw your post and I grow English Miss, but not in a container and in no where near your climate so I thought my experience wasn't very pertinent. I'd love to hear if EM does well for you there; up here in the north it has been a real dud. She just gets smaller and smaller every spring, even with mulching (and I wouldn't be surprised if I can't find her at all this year!) I've failed with her but that's no reason that you won't succeed. She is a lovely rose when in bloom - I wish you great luck!

Well, Anne, that doesn't bode well for me! I ordered EM today; I'll keep my fingers crossed that she does better in this climate. Thanks for adding your $.02 worth.

OLOG (Our Lady of Guadalupe) might be an alternative if EM doesn't work out. OLOG is a heavy bloomer with good rust and mildew resistance in California.
