a minor gripe. just FYI

had a frustraiting experience this weekend at a place i sometimes get butchered roses at. Lets call the place "HD". I went there saturday to return 2 rose bushes and a blue juniper that croaked. Because the items were purchased at the now defunct HD landscape center they would not take them back! the landscape centers were not really HD, the name was being used. Anyways, not that its the consumers problem what it was named, i was just miffed that they wouldn't exchange the plants out. OH WELL, just needed to vent. Hope this doesn't happen to any of you! I'll keep the dead rose bushes just to see if they rise from the ashes this spring :)

Most plants,roses,shrubs,perenials are very easy to care for.
I can't comment as I don't know if they were potted in a container or planted in the ground,bareroot,body bag or other.
Some can be rootbound already, have diease or some other problems.
I look very close at the plants I purchase and may visit a store weekly.
Most persons that buy roses have a good idea what they
should look for.

I am sorry this happened to you. I go to Lowe's all the time because here they seem to be cleaner and more together than HD. I would never think to see whether or not the garden section was owned by them.

A few years ago I purchased 5 Boxwoods to put in the section I care for on my church's parking lot. They died, and Lowe's took them back with a smile. I did keep the receipt that indicated that they were guaranteed. I actually purchased them the end of Oct., and was worried that it was too late to purchase them.

I think you have every right to be upset. Actually if you have the receipt, and a copy of the guarantee, I think HD should make it good regardless of who it is who is renting their garden section.

In defence of much maligned Periwinkle (Vinca Minor) ... As flegeling posted: "it does have a place in some situations, but often it is placed in places where it could cause problems. Where those probems don't exist, it can be attractive" & c..p..g..: posted as well: "I had a very pleasant patch under some Witch Hazel bushes for years without any problems." 25 yrs ago I planted mine under a Locust tree ... like wendyb had done, I allowed a few inches around, over the years as the tree grew ... tree became a problem due to tornado threats - limbs over roof ... was cut down! whew!!! I was afraid Periwinkle had gone too, after the stump/roots were grounded down ... they fortunately left a few small clumps that I nursed back to health. in 2 yrs, became a good mat ... very well behaved, even with just a 'pretend' barricade of rocks (w/o plastic edger) ... Periwinkle didn't know any better & stayed in place. Certainly a haircut, now & then (butched or pixie fringes as the mood pleases!) The site is now an L-shaped, garden bed w/ KO roses, yellow-mini-rose, Sentimental Blue-Platycodons, Li'l Spire, Lavenders, as well as, a large H Tardiva, an old Nikko H & a bird bath ... Periwinkle provides a nice sumptuous, dark-green mat & her Periwinkle-blue florets, welcome Spring along with the roses! No pretties have been choked to death yet. The tulips of 20 yrs ago, didn't complain either. Did I plant a timid type of Vinca M? I've recently created a corner-p/s-bed to move old Nikko to, this Fall ... pulled some rooted sprigs of old Periwinkle to (sooner than) eventually make a mat for old Nik. Arc Angel-Lamium, I think, is a worse invader & Snows on the Mt, as well ... in Jul/Aug, even looks like kids' football shirt after a muddy-scrimmage! Oh, you should see my retaining wall & bed of Baltic Ivy!!! :-( I love my Periwinkle & hope my neighbor won't use my name in vane, should the new bed overflow, with her long limbs & crawl thru the fence! ... Fingers crossed!!!~ FWIW! - sorry long story! Â:(

Yes I agree I just posted about this the other day. My biodad telling my brother things about my mom when they have been divorced for almost 30 years!! I think it's just as hard on adults to hear bad about their parents as it is on minor children. Hugs to you!! I know how you feel. You just have to remove yourself from the situation. Even if your mom did do things, you still love your mom. You still are a part of her and when they talk about her it is like they are talking about a part of you.

The size is 36", and I want to say that it was a bit under $500. We did do some local shopping for a vanity, but I wasn't a fan of the styles available and I didn't search extensively. I mainly posted about the terrible quality and instructions from CabinetDIY because I couldn't find any online reviews that indicated these issues -- in fact all the reviews I could find were about how amazing the products are and how great they look. What arrived wasn't even the vanity design described on the website. I went back to read about it just now, and it was supposed to be 2-drawers/2 cabinet doors with full overlay. In actuality, it has 3 drawers and the doors/drawers are partial overlay.

The new configurations for st Augustine is basically a reformulated and watered down version of the ones for Bahaia. If you have an improved version of St augustine be very careful that you dont over apply. Scotts did this a few years back with their Bonus S and killed quite a few Lawns forcing them to put the Atrazine product back out at appx 33% strength. I am a Bayer spring consultant in Orlando and they dont want us selling their Liquid southern weed control to anyone with St Augustine even though its on the label . Now the New 3 n 1 weed n feed if fine. If you do use a glyphosate product around your fruit trees applying a humic/fulvic acid product will help with the minors that you lock up by using it.

I think this was a stand-alone store, not the gardening section of a "regular" HD.

I would write to someone at HD corporate. If they are going to put their name on something, even if it ends up being a failed venture, they need to step up and act like they want to keep you as a customer, period.

I've returned plants to both HD and HD Landscape (those special stores were only in certain cities). Did you have the receipt? I've also returned items (not plants) bought in one HD store to another and not had a problem.

Home Depot Landscape Stores were owned by Home Depot.
It was merely a store concept of theirs that was not profitable.
The one in our town closed up shop too and left an eye sore of an empty building ... grrr.
I would really pitch a fit if a regular Home Depot store did not honor any guarantee that might have come with your plants.

I would insist that the store stand by the guarantee. I think a call to the corporate headquarters is warranted.

A call to the corporate office worked... a new juniper tree for me! and best of all, two new badly pruned, BS covered America's that I will attempt to rejuvinate!!
