Wedding dresses and cakes (lots of photos)

I hope you all don't get tired of my wedding updates. I've kind of got a one track mind with it right now. LOL

Yesterday, I got to try on some wedding gowns. I also picked the bridesmaids dresses. Yay!

I'm going to have my gown made, so yesterday was just to give me an idea of what styles and shapes I want to go for.

And this is the style of the dress the bridesmaids will be wearing. The maid of honor (far right of pic) will be in solid black. The other two, the bridesmaids, will be in a purple version of the print of the dress the MOH is wearing in this photo.

Ok. Now on to the really funny one. My aunt called this the Dolly Parton dress. LOL I have NO IDEA how the woman working with me got it zipped up and I have no idea how that zipper didn't bust open and fly across the room. I promise you that my waist is nowhere near that small in reality. LOL

And today Keith and I went to a cake shop that was having the grand opening of it's new storefront. They had mini cupcakes for you to try, and they are also having a drawing for a free wedding cake worth up to $1000. The drawing is at 6:30pm today. Wish me luck!!!

I really like that 2nd wedding dress. The simplicity of it is very slimming and looks good on you Tisha. I like looking at girly girly stuff once in awhile. Keep em coming.

Those gowns are so very lovely and you are so pretty ! I hope you just have all kinds of fun planning your wedding !One of my Grandsons and his fiance did not want a wedding cake so they had a great assortment of pies instead. Everyone thought it was a super idea.

I used a wedding dress to make gowns for the angels I make at Christmas time. I looked at it a long time before I could make myself cut it up ! But it is great for the angels !It was mostly a heavy satin with lots of beads sewn on.

auntjen, DH (and therefore I) have had to go to a couple of not-particularly-liked co-workers' weddings purely for office politics. He didn't give crap one about the co-workers (and I wouldn't have known them had they stopped me on the street and kicked me in the shins) but had he not shown up things would not have gone very well for him in the office. Some workplaces are just lousy like that, if you don't participate in the "office culture" you're sunk at review time. There were other "unwritten-but-really-required" activities like the bar-hops and expensive restaurant lunches (of course not paid for by the employer) for stuff like birthdays and departures that contributed to his leaving that job. Things like that added up very fast, and DH was the lowest-paid person in the office by a BIG margin - like there were several people in that office making 10x what DH did. At the time I had ONE nice dress, and it was the standard all-occasion, all-season "little black dress" with princess seams and elbow-length sleeves. I wore brightly-colored accessories - shoes, purse, and chunky vintage jewelry from Goodwill ;-) - and didn't get any guff from anyone.

So, the wire birds didn't live up to my expectations. The artist is very talented, but I didn't like the model she was working for them. Here's what she came up with : It really did not resemble the sketch that she had made and felt too chunky for the fine detail of the cake. So I'm going to pass. That was an option all along with her. instead, I am going with a gum paste peony on top. The pastry chef/artist is incredibly skilled in using fondant and has made lots of flowers. This is the look I'm going for. She can do it.All in favor?

Joining in the praise, and I can truly relate to value of a (good) decision made. I was curious to see the view count but I don't see it now. ( we need to know how many bridesmaids still counting)-- I don't see it though I have looked. I wonder if I need to sign in? lol

I like dress 1 and 2 equally. That Whitecake Sugars is magical! I can envision a Christmas themed wedding for certain with that! I also love the brown and pink, but I'd have to do something more like Tiffany blue and green, but I love the dots, the flowers, it's adorable. Good choice of word.

Oh, I do so enjoy seeing people in love. Your face shows it so much.

The dresses are all beautiful; the draping of #1 is lovely; the classic simplicity of #2 is stunning; your smile is wonderful!

I'm sure you've seen TLC's show called "The Dress"? Fun to watch, but easy to see how stressful choosing a wedding dress can be.

Please keep sharing, Tisha. Sure do wish you'd win the cake.

I think I like dress #2 the best also;
it's elegant & graceful.

& I *love* the bridesmaids' dresses & colors!

Another vote for #2. (Or #4 if you wore it with a smile! :o)

Your bridesmaid dress choices are very nice. The three women shown are all built differently, but the lines of the dresses they are wearing are uniformly flattering. Plus, it doesn't look so "brides-maidy" that it couldn't be worn again.

Thank you everyone! We had such a good time.

I found out yesterday that there's a possibility that the bridesmaids dresses might be discontinued, so we need to buy them as soon as possible. I think as soon as possible is probably sometime in December, so we'll see. I hope they are still available, but if not, I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Tish, you look so pretty and so happy. Pick your dream wedding dress, and no matter what dress you pick, watch the groom's eyes light up when he looks at you.
