anyone have a 7 year old girl?

What do you parents of kids this age use for bath toys? I am running out of tub toy ideas,that do not cost a fortune. She has a few "tub-friendly" Barbies and such. Anyone got any cool ideas for this stumped Mom? Thanks!

I used kitchen stuff - colanders, funnels, measuring cups. Made boats out of watermelon rinds! Bubble bath! Annie

Lucky deal with boys, by this point showering like a big boy has huge appeal.

Letting them luxuriate over it is a recipe for flooded floors and destroyed mouldings.

As charming as it sounds, I would not want 12 7-year-old kids trying to make sandwiches. Mixed levels of motor skills and licking fingers just donÃ¢ÂÂt grab me. I would think about things pre-made, all appetizer size, and then let the kids do a buffet. Bagel Bites, cheese quesadillas cut into triangles, mild salsa ina a bowl to scoop, mini hot dogs, mac and cheese dished into small plastic beverage cups, fresh veggies on a tray with some dip, fresh fruit with little cups of fruit dipping sauce for them to take. Also remember that 7 year olds are pretty excitable at parties, and may not eat all that much. I never sent my kids when they were that young expecting them to eat a real meal. Too much going on! As for parents complaining about their kids not getting healthy meals at a birthday party, I honestly just shake my head. It is ONE time, here and there. Wait until they find out that their kids are throwing away their sandwiches and just eating the fruit and graham cracker they sent, or are trading their healthy sandwich for some kidÃ¢ÂÂs Fluffernutter. LOL

I don't think the bed is too boyish-looking. Whatever comforters you choose will set the tone anyway. That said, I am a fan of white for girls of all ages and do not think white furnishings look too little girlish. Look in any decorating magazine and you will see white beds - especially with cottage, vintage, and even modern style decors. White would also give you more color options in the way of fabric used in comforters, window treatments, paint, etc. Another thing to consider if you choose the cherry... it is bound to get nicked and scratched with children using it and a cherry finish would be much more difficult to repair than a painted finish. Oh, if your girls turn out to be anywhere as opinionated as my three teenagers are, when they get to be about 15, 16 years old they'll probably hate all the stuff they've had 'since they were babies' and want new beds - and double or queen-size at that.

I just loved the box car chilren when i was a kid. i know you asked for series, but Holes and how to eat fried worms are both great books to read. if she likes a mystery, 'The Cat who....' books might not be too far beyond her reach. I read the original Tarzan books at that age and was captivated. as well as nacy drew and the hardy boys. also the series about budding astronauts "Tom ???" after that i slid into Narnia, and then the lord of the rings. Horatio Hornblower would be great, (but O'brian's Master and Commander series was a heavy, but wonderful read for me this past year) I also remember a series about a boy named henry, he as always in trouble(or was it a Homer?) diggerb

My inclination would be to paint the walls bright white and let the rest of the accents be the color players. White is the backdrop I've often seen, or been drawn to, when I look up bohemian pictures. I'd also put a really large area rug in the room that only left a few inches of bare floor around the perimeter of the room. This way, no matter which way the room is arranged, the rug is always the right size. If your daughter is anything like I was, the room will be rearranged many times during her teen years! : ) You could still layer her little rug over the large rug for her reading nook. You might like to plug the room into homestyler.com for working on the layout. Your kitties might be disappointed, but muscles with thank you. : ) If you save a snapshot of the homestyler layout to your computer, you can upload it onto here using the photo link. I always used kitchen stuff with my girls too. When the three of them were little, they spent hours in the tub it seemed. It was good clean fun.

Here's one both my sons and daughters enjoyed. Get a water gun and let her fill it up in the tub. Then buy her those soaps that come shaped like Crayolas and are all different colors.
She can then color on the tiles and spray the wall clean w/ the water gun.

Another winner is just a small hose, you know the kind you can attach to the sink when you want to wash your hair w/ the shower attachment at the end?

You can give her the hose without attaching it to the spout, for some reason they love this because they can blow air out through the attachment part and make their own "shower" by forcing the air out to the other side.

Little boats w/ small "guys" or action figures that can take boat rides is also fun.

My daughter loves small shampoo bottles that have the tops that pop open so that she can squirt water out of them. Don't remember where I was but I found multiple rubber duckies all different colors. I bought them for my neighbors kids but mine wanted them. She also has the Polly Pocket dolls, some squirting BK toys and a few Fisher Price toys from when my 22 year old son was little.

I went to Party City and bought some little mermaids. Barbies, horses, that soap paint stuff that you can color the walls with.
