getting caught up... picturewise

Here is the finished bathroom, minus cleaning, the outlet covers, door frame (setting the nails, putty and paint), the shower curtain will get longer when I add its bottom, decorating...... but close enough. And not stark white!

And here is Maggie. She's keeping the bottom of the shower curtain warm for me, until I attach it to the bronz part.

Oooh isn't she a pretty girl! Would you call her a tortie? I don't think I've seen many long-haired torties. I was hoping you'd post some pictures soon. Thanks.

We do call her a tortie. Check out those paws! Aren't they huge? And the mane? Hallmark for Maine coon.

Tiffy, those milkweed just seeded in that one spot about 15 years ago and i never got around to pulling them out or moving them. Then my son and daughter who where 15 and 10 at the time, spotted the caterpillars on them. 10 year old daughter knew what they where and that was the end of moving them. I have just left that clump to seed and do as it pleases every year. and the monarchs sure love them. If my poppy seedlings, from seeds from the one in the pics, turn out half as beautiful, i will have nothing to complain about. Karen, I can't wait till end of July or early August either. I want home grown toms so badly right now. We've just gone into some heat and humidity again so it's hard to tell if they really will be later than past years yet. On the other hand, I have no complaints about continuing to pick ripe tomatoes when those that bought their plants are pitching them after labor day. I'm still in heaven picking mine. Last year the fall was so warm I picked my last ripe toms on halloween and then took off all the green ones and brought them into ripen indoors. booberry, I've been companion planting marigolds with my tomato plants both in pots and in the ground for 28 years and my grandfather did it with his 100 tomato plants on the veggie farm and he never had a bug problem in his career and I have never either, except for last year. One little tiny tim didn't get a marigold because of the tiny pot i put it in. that poor plant got the dreaded tomato horn worm on it. non of the others did. Didn't make that mistake this year. tiny tim is in a bigger pot and has it's own little marigold in there with it. I also companion plant 4 o'clocks around my plants that are favorites of the japanese beetle and I've never had a destructive season with them, the 4 o'clock leaves get nibbled and the japanese beetles die. the leaves are poisonous to them. i find tons of dead ones around the leaves they nibbled and i guess the message goes out to the others to leave my yard alone, it's a death sentence. I found one container already broken last fall. It was hidden under Darius' Little Princess spirea. As for anything else, i think i finished everything i needed to in the fall. Can't think of anything i should have done. One of the perks of working half-time now.

Yeah when the plants go they go fast. I just lost a majority of my plants 2 days ago, but as you said I got tons of zucchini so I never care. I already have a couple summer squash plants growing that will start producing soon and when I pull out the current plants I will just plant more seeds. Vining plants that aren't grown on a trellis are typically very resistant to the affects of the SVB because of all the secondary roots they have along the vine.

Robin,Maggie is just gorgeous..and those eyes! What kind of personality does she have? Main Coons are so delightfully weird. Now for the bathroom. I've never seen a sink quite like that and it's perfect for the way you decorated. Everything goes together just beautifully..especially that big dark cabinet and the picture which looks like T uscany to me. You both did a super job.

Maggie is beautiful; she looks so huggable. Will she stand for that?

Andie, no roosting yet. I wish she would. She is still kind of skittish and only shows confidence late at night or early morning when it's just me puttering around. LF isn't mean to her, but he's skittish of her and it just cycles. I keep trying to explain to him that he just needs to pet her, she's not frail and achy like Keegan, but he's not getting it yet.

Meldy, I have a brush and used it once, but she still really won't sit very still. I'm keeping the brushing all to myself (and LF), so she'll have to beg when she wants it, no wall thingies for her. It's actually building trust some, so I think we'll use it as a tool and to make her happy.

Linda, Thanks and Thanks! Hopefully the work will pay off in monetary ways in a handful of months. Won't that make a great graduation present? A new economy with a rising housing market. Ah.

Marda, she is perky, lively, and loves to be pet pet petted. Thanks on the decorating. Actually, the painting (done by Ed's mom) is the inspiration for the house's color palate and the overall design. Hopefully the whole house will come together. One project down, the rest to go. But they couldn't until this one was done. Big whew!

M, Thanks on the sink and tile choices, they're Ed's. He learned how to tile on that wall. He did better on the floor. She won't let me hug yet, as she's too squirmy. I assume that will come in time.

LOLOLOL Oscar the Cat..........and I totally agree. A house is not a proper home without a cat or two perched in important places. One of mine holds the refrigerator in place, same one sometimes holds down our bunn coffeemaker, but only when it's cold in the house and she is seeking warmth. She also holds down my neck at night, wrapped around it like a boa. She is now sitting on my fax machine next to the puter holding it down.

Have you been psyching yourself out yet for a housekitten? Are you like me and will 'know' it when it comes along? (and also, of course numerous other ones you would not have chosen, but chose you and you accommodated them?)

Unfortunately I can't see photos of bathroom redo, but your cat is beautiful. I think she might settle down more when house is settled...my cats hated change or too much hustle-bustle (me, too)...lol josh

Maggie is gorgeous, but then you knew that! Training her to believe that combing is a treat will pay off in spades when this kitty is geriatric... good of you to see this now!!!

Naturally, your "house" choices (tile et. al.) are beautiful and well executed, but your "home" choices are the ones I admire even more. May you and LF earn her affection quickly, and may she come to crave you both!

What a beautiful cat. I always wanted a Main Coon but none showed up at my house yet. I do not get to pick my pets, they just show up at the door and come in.
Love your bathroom. When you are done, can you come by and do mine? Great job.
