I was walking around the garden with the camera this morning and took these pictures - I'm just so glad that the rain has gone away ... the roses can finally open up ... lots of balled roses due to the rain ...

William R Smith - most of his blooms balled in the rain, but a few buds are now starting to open nicely

I saved the best for last - I am totally enamored with this rose - got it because of the name, I'm a huge fan of the group ABBA and love their song "Waterloo" so when I saw this rose offered by Vintage I had to have it ... lovely fragrance ...

April, don't worry, you can never post too many rose photos ;-)!

You have some lovely roses in your garden. I especially enjoyed seeing the following roses:
Rochester Cathedral, which is new to me.
Baron Girad de l'Ain. Always fascinating with his white edge!
Duchess de Montebello. Just love this rose, her soft pink colored blooms look sooo... beautiful.
Curly Pink, the "frillyness" of her flower is very nice! I am also not familiar with this rose.
Waterloo is amazing. The sheer amount of flowers makes you just stop in your tracks and it is an additional bonus, that it has fragrance.

Thanks for taking us with you on your garden tour. Hopefully it stays dry for you for a while, so that your roses can open properly now!

I love the bumblebee photo. I've always admired the form of Raubritter. I have a baby Duchesse de Montebello. Her single perfect bloom she gave me left me wanting more. I also have Oshun, the blooms are still opening up for me. It's interesting how much they look like an HT when they first start unfurling.

Beautiful!I am jealous of your blooms.I only have 4 blooming now,and the only one doing it right is dumb old Stella!Fire And Fog is splotchy and distorted-just won't open fully,Raspberry Winter looks more like peachy spring,and Frilly Bliss is a munchkin!Nearly all the rest are scaping-early,mid,late-what a bloom season this is turning out to be-lol!I am happy to be able to enjoys everyone else's blooms. They are very pretty. Do not do away with a problem child after two years. I live in what is supposed to be (by the "Landscaping with Daylilies" book) ideal day lily growing area, and I have waited three years for a bloom on two plants which now bloom wonderfully. Tesseract is a beautiful bloom, and it might well be worth giving it another year. In my post today, I have a picture of one I had planned to shovel prune, and it has now bloomed well for the last couple of days and has more blooms, so it gets another year for sure. I almost shovel pruned Joan Senior, and she turned into a wonderful bloomer. Now to your post: I really liked several of them, Rhapsody in Time, Tropical Hot Flash, Tesseract, Rennie's Delight, Red Hot and Boom and your NOID. Too many to pick a favorite, but I really like the ones I named. kay

I am located in the Kansas City, MO area, not exactly California. I have grown Kordes' Brilliant in the Pacific Northwest and here in the midwest. It gets about 4 - 5 feet tall, has reasonably good disease resistance, but does benefit from a regular spray program. It is one of my first to flower and last to quit. Its growth habit is straight up, almost cylindrical, but spreading a bit. Its flowering habit is what you would expect as a grandiflora which would be a good class for this rose, but that class is not used in Europe. It blooms singly and in trusses as shown. The color in the photograph is quite close to real and is quite stable from beginning to end and through cool and heat. It does not have much of a problem with our winters here either with the multiple freeze-thaw cycles. It is fairly sturdy. It is one of the few that I have more than one of in the garden. It is available from Hortico and Vintage Gardens. I would put it as one of my better oranges.

Your roses are gorgeous and I agree---You can never post too many roses---

I love Smith's Parish-----we have a white Azalea that has a red stripe---I think it is neat.

Oh my gosh Aprille! These are beautiful. I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite but Oshun, Mozart and Waterloo are about as pretty as any rose I've ever seen. BTW, I'm an ABBA fan too. Telling my age huh?

And I picked a few favorites - of course, Waterloo (to die for, pity nobody has it right now for sale), Frau Eva Schubert, Rochester Cathedral, and, your photo of Crown Princess Margareta with Foxgloves is outstanding.

Those are really, really wonderful photos. I especially like Waterloo, CPM and Raubritter. Do you grow many of your roses in pots? I just got some huge ones to grow some roses not normally meant for containers. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Aprille, Don't apologize. One can never see too many lovely roses. I just love the pink edge of William R. Smith. Most Unusual is rightly named and Morning Greeting is great. I like them all!

Remember Aprille, there is a rule: It is not POSSIBLE to post too many pictures of beautiful roses. It just can't be done. Every one of yours is beautiful but my favorites are Rochester Cathedral, Morning Greeting and Waterloo. Frau Eva Schubert is a darling little rose also. Thanks so much for the treat.
