'Rescued' dendro, now what?

My wife found this three foot long, pot bound six-leafed nightmare at a garden center. Apparently, if they don't sell when in bloom the orchids are sent on a one way trip into a green house at the end of the property where they are ignored.

The plant was inserted into the loop of it's wire hanger rather than staked, and so it grew at a ninety degree angle to the pot. Because the pot is ALWAYS tipped over, there is no medium to grow in.

My wife was surprisingly rude to the owner of the nursery,-that in itself newsworthy, threatening basically that had there been a humane society for orchids that the proprietor would be busted.

Once we're out of there my wife hands me the plant and asks,

"You can 'fix'(?) this, right?"

Well, no.

I'm out of my league on this one.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to return this into the plant kingdom instead of a two horned six-leafed horizontal growing curiosity?

I realize I will have to cut it out of the pot, but it is so rangy looking, I was hoping for some ideas on what others would try to do to help it along.

thnx
