Hey guys i posted a little while ago about my catt. Blc. Chia Lin New City about dead roots.in which all the probs started after repoting, and i went into a new 6-8 in pot. well i took the advice and took it out of the pot and waited for some new roots to form. so they are very small right now so i guess now would be the time to take the rest of the advice and pot it up in sphangum and lava rock. so here are the pics:

The leaves look nice and healthy. I'd cut off any dead roots; also that new growth on psuedobulb -either cut the brown stuff off or watch it, as it might be rot. If you cut it off now there's a chance the new growth would get nourishment from the other close pseudobulb.
Plant it in a small pot, in light shade, and water sparingly until you see strong new growth. Then you can put it back into stronger light and start fertilizing sparingly and watering more.

looks like your chia lin is putting out new roots. That's great. Cut off all the dead roots and repot the plant in a smaller pot (or what fits). I pot my plants in New Zealand sphagnum in clay pots.

Gray! Gray! Gray!!! No white walls, though! Light gray cabs with darker gray walls works. Or pale yellow walls. This will keep it bright and it works with your accent colors (My favorite colors are actually aqua and chartreuse). Use a GOOD quality paint on those cabinets though! Fine Paints of Europe or BM, not Home Depot stuff (Behr's, Martha Stewart) - find a color and get it matched, preferably in oil. I don't have pics, but my bedroom colors are Behr's Melted Butter walls (might be a bit too dark in kitchen - it is a very warm yellow), Behr's Flint Smoke trim and built-ins (medium gray), and Amphibian (charcoal) accent wall. Pale blue-gray ceiling (Misty Surf, I think - bought Sparkling Spring to match other grays, but was too light). For the cabs the color "River Rock" might work - lighter than Flint Smoke, darker than Sparkling Spring. Maybe "Whisper Yellow" walls - a shade lighter than mine. Again, Behr, but BM or FPE can color match. In my bedroom these colors appear a true gray - but you really have to try them (or any paint, for that matter) in your own space - the same paint can look totally different from one room to the next depending on lighting and sheen. Buy some sample sizes first. I also see this with a warm white trim around doors and windows. Our white trim is Behr's Pot of Cream, but seriously, it takes 3-4 coats (on top of primer) to cover well - not worth the "savings."

Wow. Such great ideas! Love the tiles from sonoma. I am really embracing the idea of blues now, especially the delft. My everyday dishes are blue and white. After looking through a few of my inspiration magazines and photos from when I started all this, the ceramic and blue seems to fit right in with my overall long-term decor theme. I found something blue to put there to help me visualize how well it works, and I think it does! You guys are brilliant! So, IÂm thinking maybe some dark brownish/red field tiles along the inner sides of the cabinets and as a background surrounding perhaps a rectangular insert of blue and cream patterned tiles like in some of boxerpupsÂ images above. What do you think? Or would that be too contrasty? I wish I were better at photoshop. Also, what about adding wood corbels under the 2 side cabs? Would that help anchor the hood or just look silly?

I don't see the legs you like? I also don't understand the solid sides on the open end. Why not just legs like on the green island? Do you need drawers opening toward the dishwasher? The inspiration pics you show are more traditional in feel with things only opening on the sides. The look of having drawer fronts on the end and on the side takes away the integrity/authenticity/genuineness of the piece...Like you know it's lying to you somehow, since it's not possible for real drawer fronts to be both places. Does that make sense? If you want the solid sides on the open end if you want the drawers that open toward the dishwasher, I'd try to make those sections look similar from the side to give it symmetry. (Maybe just vertical framed panels in each place) Otherwise, I'd open the open end and support it with a leg like on the green island, and I'd divide the drawers equally along the side for the rest...either 3 equally wide columns, or cut it to 2 columns, letting the end toward the dishwasher be fairly plain...Again, maybe using framed, vertical panels, 2 or 3, side by side. I would leave it all drawers, because I went with all doors to copy my inspiration island, but for function, now wish I had drawers instead. I might actually change them, because my dh is my cabinet maker and is a dear enough to do it if I want.

Laundry room door (open) cannot be moved (ideal) since it has 3 brick steps down and w/d beside it. I have checked with contractor on this scenario. Window to be removed since view is not great but it is nice when children out back playing kick ball in back. 3 foot outside door will open onto wall that laundry room door is located on leaving 3 feet 2" of working space. If use cabinet/pantry on this wall do not think it needs to be deep so people entering from parking space outside will not feel cramped. Suggestions here please. Would you have shelf above laundry room door is cabinet/pantry located opposite door to join original kitchen cabinet area with extended area? Thanks

The leaves do look healthy but the roots and p-bulbs look badly dehydrated. It is as if this plant has never been watered properly in its life. Cutting off all the dead roots will not leave anything to hold the Catt in place in the new mix. Mind you I am of the opinion that one can grow anything in anything but I don't go against the grain just to go against the grain. Potting Catts in straight sphag is going against the grain. A bark mix in clay or plastic is standard for these and in the right light and with the correct watering they will thrive. This time of year the right light should be found outside and everyday watering in the size of pot that you will end up with (~5") will not be too much.

My old eyes see a rotted new pseudobulb. Brown rot spreads quickly, and this has gotten a head start. If it were my plant, I would remove this with a new razor blade and keep cutting u ntil you reach 1/2 inch into healthy tissue. It may mean removing several pseudobulbs before you reach healthy rhizome. Paint cut with paste of Elmersglue and cinnamon, repot and pray. Twenty eight years of experience with catts speaking, for what it's worth. I use a systemic fungicide prophylactically to prevent this during our rainy season.
