Why did the Bermudagrass cross the road?

Sorry, there's no punch line.

Unlike some people when I promise to post a photo of something, I eventually do it.

For those of you that have never seen bermuda up close or don't really know what all the talk is about... people calling it devils grass, these photos should provide some comic relief for you. For those of you considering planting this, you can consider this a warning or perhaps a glimpse into your future.

Bermuda growing across the sidewalk

Yes technically it's a crack

{{gwi:120491}}
This is the the front of our subdivisision. Nearly 4 tenths of a mile

of frontage, all sodded with bermuda. It has yet to be maintained properly.

This is how it looks with no fertilizer or weed control as of last week.

It gets mowed every 2-4 weeks or so.

{{gwi:120492}}
This is how it looks up close with no maintenance. Stems and weeds.

{{gwi:120493}}
This is the next sub over. This is the TifSport variety I'm told by

the guy that owned the company that used to maintain it.

{{gwi:120494}}
This is how it looks up close. It has drought damage and is being mowed

with a rotary mower, a ZTR I presume that is not cutting evenly.

{{gwi:120495}}
You can see it readily spreads into unwanted areas and if you look

closely or enlarge the photo you will see it appears to be climbing up

the wall or growing inside of it.

{{gwi:120496}}
This is the tifsport and it is being cut way higher than it should

be. I think it's close to 2" seeing as how my shoe is buried in it. This

was the best stand of bermuda around last year when it was reel cut by

the other company. I don't think the neighborhood wanted to pay his price

though.

{{gwi:120497}}
The bermuda is attacking those plants. You can't see it from this view

but it's all up inside of there.

{{gwi:120498}}
This shows how bermuda looks in shade compared to sun. Towards the

back is in sun and it thins out dramatically under the canopy of the tree.

I believe that bermuda will look OK in a fair amount of shade but towards

the end of the season late August onward it does thin out in shade.

Anyhoo.... not meant to spark a debate. It's just sharing photos.
