Day 28 KBG Renovation Update

Today is day 28 of my KBG Renovation, all in all I'm pleased with the progress, though if there were a few less weeds that would have been ok too.

Looking good eastpenna! You need to print up a couple of business cards saying you are a "lawn consultant," then next time your neighbor stops by you can yak him up and produce a card. Second to last photo was shot from my desk looking at my neighbors house. What you see is how green his grass has gotten from all the water I'm spraying on my seeds. Same deal with my neighbor to the side.....these bright, tall green strips of gorgeous grass in their otherwise sad look lawns! Rob

I used my scotts classic reel mower as well this weekend and I must say how impressed I am with the cut of a reel mower. I hadn't used one since I was a kid and at that time I could care less about the quality of the cut itself. If I had A) more time or B) less yard I would seriously consider using one all the time. I may actually alternate every other cut or so between the reel and my other lawn mowers.

gbig2, The miracle-gro comes in a 5 lb container with 4 feeder pack refills for $8.98 I believe. On new lawns one feeder pack can cover 1800 sq ft. On established lawns it does 1000 sq ft. per pack. I think that sometime photos look better that what is right in front of you. Post some pics of your renovation.

Oooohhh you got that right! I will use the best stuff I can find, if it has to be synthetic so be it. If I do get any weeds next summer I will use any means necessary to get rid of them. If there are too many for the Weed Hound to handle, I will get something like Bayer weed killer that comes in a hose end spray bottle. I did not do all of this work to have a yard of weeds, that's for sure.

I will be using organic ferts next year, then after the lawn gets nice and thick I will switch over to the organic pre-m also.

very,very,very little - Just under the drip line of the two crape myrtle trees, there was a couple of branches causing some dripping and puddling. Last Thursday I trimmed them and hand seeded the spots they were dripping on, but that is it.

Looking great! When do you think you'll mow? Best I can tell from the photos some areas are already 2 inches or so? Taller?

Funny you should ask, I was going to mow right before taking the day 28 photo, but the mower was starting to leave marks, so I stopped. I am still doing twice a day watering so the ground is soft.

Best I can tell from the photos some areas are already 2 inches or so?
Most areas are still only maybe 2 inches, there are a couple of areas well over 2, and probably closer to 4 inches.

Have you decided what fertilizer to use for your next shot? I think I will be going with the TB with iron. Tomorrow is my day 30, but it is suppose to go up to 89 degress so I may wait until Saturday when it will be 76 degress. I also might drop down to once a day watering at this time.

I haven't decided, but will probably just go with the fall fertilizer I have leftover from last year.
