What To Do About Foxtail?

I have a 1-2 acre lawn that was seeded for the first time this spring (mix of KBG and perrennial rye). Considering the monsoon we had in Iowa this spring, I think it did reasonably well. However, I did end up with quite a bit of what appears to be foxtail in the yard. I'm in the middle of my fall lawn project (filling ruts, aerating, overseeding, etc). Is there anything I should do now to help with the foxtail next year? I'm fairly certain, the ground is littered with foxtail seed just waiting for next spring.

Also, as the lot is 9 acres and I only mow 1-2 of that, the mowed areas butt right up to the unmowed fields which are filled with foxtail and other things. What can I do next year to prevent the field from overtaking the yard?

Thanks,
