next season's program

My phals are coming to the end of their blooming cycle. Their combined effort has given me 7 months of profuse blooms. However, this was because they were all obtained at different times of the year, from mid January till mid April and all were in bud when I brought them home. I cut each spent spike down to the base (reluctantly, because the cut ends were so green and healthy looking, but I did it, all the same).

So, what should I do to get them to perform similarly next year?

Should I give them a cooling off period in late autumn to encourage spike formation?

If so, all together, or staggered?

Or should I leave them alone and let them each do their own thing?

What do you think?

Judy
