The common Johnny Jump Up here is V. tricolor. V. cornuta is Tufted Pansy. Haven't seen your pictures.

It does look like a trillium to me as well although the flowers on our trilliums up here have MUCH bigger flowers unless those are just opening or just finishing their flowering period. On first glance I also thought of wild ginger but the veins in the leaves are wrong. Barb S/W Ontario Zone 6a
