What type of grass/weed is this (pic)

Stuff is great out in the middle of the yard but does not like shade much. Given enough sun it tries to even grow over tree stumps! All the more amazing given our heat and drought.

Looks to me like some sort of Bermuda or other creeping grass.

It is Bermuda in need of water and fertilizer.

I wonder if there is a poison for this that would kill only the crabgrass ??? I do know that this weed can do very little in a healthy well watered((IMO)) lawn..

One looks like Tall fescue, and the other Dallis grass. The Dallis grass( and other weeds in the picture) can be killed with 'Bayer advanced all in one'. The Tall fescue has to be sprayed with 'Round up' the resulting dead spot re-seeded a couple weeks later.

Can't tell from your pics, but are the flowers held on stems with a triangular cross section? Onion weed or Three cornered garlic (Allium triquetrum) is a very common weed in Australia and New Zealand. Eradicate by smothering clumps with multiple layers of paper/cardboard/etc. Also if it is A.triquetrum, you could dig and eat as a mild garlic. Fof

Thank you all. Identification even of trees is not my strong suit.

Yeah, that part dries out especially fast. Notice it is strung out over a silver maple stump probably a clean foot from any good soil. Amazing how well the stuff grows. That spot is near the edge of the lawn and NEVER gets watered.

If folks like Bermuda then I recommend it anyolace your neighbors will not mind. Stuff is impossible to keep out of the flower beds. Thank goodness for round-up
