Oh Marilyn, I am SO there. I work out at a gym and walk around my neighborhood, but "nature hikes" are way out of my line. I know I miss a lot but somehow I don't find that a big deal. There are those pictures, after all, and the Nature Channel and Discovery Channel and Planet Earth and all that.

LOL! This is a variation on my take on camping. I feel like if God had meant me to sleep in a tent in the elements he wouldn't have invented the Hyatt Hotel chain with 24-hour room service.

OMG, I sleep outside as often as possible, with a perfectly comfy bed inside. If God has meant for us to live in houses, we would all look like turtles. LOLOLOL.

Had to laugh at the quote. Reminds me of a comercial i like. A dog brings the master breakfast in bed.gets him up and out for a nature hike. Next scene.... Dog in bed under covers while master is out.

My idea of camping out is staying at the Ritz and ordering
breakfast in bed.:0)

I have camped out twice in my life..........wasn't bad, wasn't good either, just know that I don't want to do it again. Now, that said, Suzy, you have that wonderful gazebo and it is not far from your house so if need be you can run in to that comfy bed! LOL!!! Now that I WOULD DO!

I used to go camping a lot! With the family! And I get up very early and make some coffee and sit and listen to the birds and the sounds of all the camps around me, wind in the trees - yes, rest-room facilities were not the best and one had to shlep water but compensation was that the stars were above and the air was clean, even if I wasn't particularly LOL
I grew up a big city girl - and I thought this nature life was a very good break from the every day life, even when the bear raided our food-box.

Have I gone camping? Yes, that's one way to see the USA when on a very miniscule budget. Did I enjoy it? Well, I enjoyed seeing a lot of the US and Canada that I would not otherwise have been able to visit.... but honesty compels me to admit that I do NOT like sleeping on a hard pad upon uneven/rocky ground; nor getting up at night to try to find the potty in the dark only to discover a few spiders already using it; nor do I have the proper appreciation of meals over a campfire, since grilling is not among my fav methods of cooking -- I want more options than black or raw. I also lack the gene that makes one uncaring of whether or not the hot dogs were a bit ripe. All things considered, I am not a happy camper. Especially if the tent must be put up in a downpour.

Now hiking is a similar story set to a different beat, C&W instead of the blues, so to speak. I love the view from the top of the mountain, especially if I didn't get blisters on the way. But I've always suspected that I would enjoy the view even more if I weren't wiping sweat out of my eyes.
