Saturday's Musin'

Spent the last three hours riding my bicycle. It's good to be able to get out and about. Summer weather pattern is here; we dodged a bullet that a lot of others did not last evening. Luckily it dissipated somewhat. We just had goodly breezes of about 30 mph. Banana winds.

Whilst riding I saw another cyclist and we stopped to chat for a minute. Seems he was training for a triathlon that will be held in Decatur July 18th. This is the first I have heard about it and am intrigued and already considering it.

The last leg of my ride I stopped at the grocery store and picked up items to fix for an afternoon meal, one that I am not too sure of what it would be properly called. No matter, I will have it on the patio later this afternoon. It will be broiled tilapia served over a bed of rice and covered with a garlic butter sauce. Sides will be steamed french cut green beans, creamed corn, and french rolls. Will mix up a concoction of home made wine and soda water to sip along with the meal.

Seriously thinking about buying one of those kiddie pools at the dollar store and see if I can rig a low rent hot tub to soak my bod and bones this summer. Nothing permanent, some that can be broken down and packed away easily enough.

Off to find out more about the triathlon. Wish Leigh would chime in. She should be a pro at triathlons by now.

It sounds like you had an enjoyable Saturday! I'd like to get my bike tuned up for riding.....it's an ancient Schwinn Phantom. My husband is going on a 100 mile ride/race around Lake Almanor next weekend...it's in the mountains of northeastern California. He rides a Giant OCR A1. It's in a different league of bike than mine. LOL!

Today was clear skies and hot, but we went through a couple weeks of rain and lightning. A woman was struck by lightning on Friday evening while walking her dog. She spent the night in the hospital, but seemed to only have an exit burn on a foot. Her dog is o.k.

We went to a fundraiser for dinner tonight, for a young father with stage IV renal cell carcinoma. BBQ chicken and Tri tip, salad, rolls, the best baked beans I've ever eaten, and soft drinks and desserts. I try to go to those kind of fundraisers, and I'm always pleased with the huge turnouts. There were hundreds of people there.

So far, we are learning to analise poems and how to properly read them them aloud. Also, to appreciate the sounds of the words as well as the meaning, if the particular poem has any. My new motorcycle is a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250. It just happened to be the right bike at the right time for the right price. But the most important thing is that it has me on two wheels again and also on the road. It's a lot of bike (well, enough for me) in a small package. It's acceleration and speed will is better that all but the most top end sports car. The Tail of the Dragon is a section of road in the mountains betwixt North Carolina and Tennessee that is 11 miles long with 318 curves in it. A motorcylce ridin' friend has told me about it. It's located between Knoxville and Chattanooga, in the Great Smoky Mountains. It's a three hour drive for me. Cain't hardly wait... Elia

OK, I thought about it some more... after all, who in their right mind would drink a gallon of bucket-stored wine made by impoverished monks in one sitting? Fill up the three gallon bucket. Dump its contents into the fiver. Fill up the three again. Completely fill the fiver. You should have one gallon remaining in the three gallon bucket. Now completely dump the fiver into the big bucket. Dump the one gallon into the fiver. Completely re-fill the three gallon bucket, and dump those three gallons into the fiver as well. You should now have four gallons in the fiver, four in the eight, and none in the three. This is a better solution than my first stab at the puzzle because the mass of the three gallon bucket would have unfairly displaced a little extra wine from the five gallon bucket. If the two wine connoisseurs happened to have been siblings, the bickering that would ensue might have driven the impoverished monks to either murder... or to consuming all of their product before it could be found by wine connoisseurs in the first place!

Almost the same. Free today even though it's coatch-(can't do endash Michelle) pitch baseball, because of the rain, and free next Saturday (good, since next is gradauation, and he'll attend, which is really really good (graduation walk is only for HIM to realize graduating is ultracool)). Some house projects finished for remodeling, all grocery shopping done for the month, laundry for the week, one test for which I'll study, and all while cleaning the house. Menus left and wardrobe for the week left to get ironed. I got new brakes (Miata) today; I figured $500-$600 and it was $585 and change (close enough). Bought and ate scallops, mmmm, (really supposed to be a shrimp dish. It's a traditionally Spanish (truly... not pseudo Spanish- (again, no endash) Mexican) tapas. It's so easy and really every mouthful is oh my gosh delicious. I also decided to make a dessert. And chose my lace cookies which always turns out to be java almond brickle. I give. I'll call it that and be done. But this time.... it wouldn't fit, so I had to eat enough to close the container. And since school is over, I'll be back around. Almost the same. Almost. But yours is better. I am just glad I can focus on the "last half of busy" that I complained was too hard before (thanks guys for shoving), as I "only" have to remodel the house and sell it (I'd draw an incredibly wry smile if I knew how).

Actually, I find myself computer/internetless right now, as Ed shut off the cable. But I was also working the house. It is almost put back together and I am beginning what will be minor construction on the back office. I tore down the old closet pieces, making the floor two different levels instead of three. And took down stuff hanging from the ceiling, along with 9 of the original tongue-and-groove wall pieces to make room for the French doors and to so that I can use the pieces to cover up where the old door was. The handy man is putting up trim inside and outside of the new bathroom. Ed comes to get the rest of his stuff today and I brought the rest of my stuff from storage so that all of my stuff is in one place now. It's almost home. Almost. Wish I could stay and I am making efforts to do so.

Two people tried to fix me up this past week. It's good to have friends care about you, and think you're good enough to pass on (i.e. wouldn't embarrass them somewhere down the road (((wink wink)))), but golly, I am not even divorced yet. Much less considering being with anyone anytime soon, if ever... boyfriends are much better than husbands because you can send them home. KIDDING, really.

LF's team won two, lost two of his baseball tournament. Somewhere along the way, he managed to win the admiration of the kids on his team, and that will probably get him through to next spring.

Got a bedframe last night and as I sunk into the freshly cleaned linens, in a bed which now has some give to it, I fell asleep immediately. Ah. It's the simple things. Shoot, I couldn't stop opening and closing the door Richard hung on my bedroom once it was up. You never know how much you need a door until you don't have one.
