You see where it has a little message in bold "Image File To Upload" right under "Post a Followup"? There's a little button "choose file". Tap that and you get a choice of choosing one from camera roll or taking one to use. I choose to take one, which led to some of my troubles, I think, because you "lose" the image if you don't approve of the draft that is showing it. Don't know why it insisted my image was upside down, I finally resorted to turning my iPad over and taking the photo. Stuff, I'm actually starting them crowded because my goal is baby leeks for the restaurant plus I am banking on getting my hoop house erected in the next month or so, so I can pot them up without overburdening my lighting setup if need be. So these are in 9.5 cup rectangular Glad storage containers, holes poked in the bottom with a hot metal skewer, filled 2/3 with soil. I made a grid using hardware cloth to get a sprread of seed of about 1 seed per sq cm, which should get me through until transplant time. Many sources say to give them much more room, a few say they don't seem to mind being crowded this early any more than onions do. My onions get plenty big, so we'll give this a try. The tennisball is in there for comparison, I don't usually store it there ! :) Jon, onions are the gardener's midwinter friend, for sure!

I think the best suggestion in the whole thread was Holly's suggestion to have them kneecapped! LOL! The prices are robbery. For that amount, I'd expect custom mosaic work to the level of the baths of Pompeii. Something truly artsy and spectacular. You're getting I-95 truckstop quality work instead. They are in over their head. I know you like him, but there is something not quite right here in the fact that your GC hasn't already addressed the issue permanently. He is failing in his primary role if he does not. If he is the one paying them, then it's HIS problem to sort out the materials from labor here. You shouldn't even know there's an issue with their contract. You shouldn't have even seen the contract between the two. It doesn't involve you. Your role is to insist on the quality of work that your fee should be providing. His role is to provide that quality by selecting the appropriate subcontractors and supervising their work. Even if he has to eat some fees here or take a loss by severing the relationship with this sub, it's HIS problem that he agreed to the vague contract. NOT YOUR PROBLEM! He needs to cut his losses with the subs and move on. If he doesn't do that, then he is either getting kickbacks from them or he is related to them. There is some other hidden motivation to keep them. It's NOT a "court thing" at all. He has the right and obligation to set the quality standard of the work that the sub provides, and if the sub doesn't provide to that standard, it's his job to get rid of them, even if it costs him. He is the GC and you pay him for the headache resolution. You don't keep people who screw up and cost you money---unless they aren't really costing him money.

charliedawg: then I should perhaps not mention that DH is actually WALLING off my section of the shed. Partly to protect me and my asthma from so much of the gas fumes from the lawnmower. But it also provides both sides with another wall for hanging things and shelves. Anything up off the floor is a benefit! I didn't say I was a good gardener, BTW. And be aware that every tool you learn to operate is one you may be expected to use. I have avoided the hole-digger for that reason. A lot of my "gardening" is weed-pulling, shrub grooming, mulch spreading, and leaf raking. We call it "gardening" around here. Other places call it "grunt work" or some such. Does your guy have a John Deere? Because there are so many cute gift items with their logo. Our mower is a crappy antiquated Craftsman, but one day he'll trade up. briosafarm: you're the one who should be outlawed! Is your OH door on a remote control, too?? Once again, an item for my next life.

DH lived in Outremont and I lived even further down from Queen Mary, more near the Van Horne area. I am soooo glad that I had weeded through things these past couple of years. It really is making a differene in my life now. I'm finding that it's been pretty easy to pack. DH has even gone through some boxes of stuff that I didn't know what to do with and have been lugging around from place to place. All of his stuff is packed. So far, there are 43 boxes packed. One thing that's helped me is when I get to the last of a set of boxes pertaining to a particular item, I've been leaving the last one open and putting things in there as I find the odd piece that goes in there. Then I repack it properly. We will be going this weekend to find a new place. Then I'll be able to figure out if I'll have any storage room for some of these boxes.
