Some thoughts on digital photography

Eventually the pictures fade

Electrons wander unafraid

Up and down a silicon stair

Gently cascading who knows where.

Oh yes, they can recover most

But in the process some is lost

The brightness and the clarity

Lack something of the verity

We treasured. And I find

A poignant measure of satisfaction

That this artificial mind

Is still lacking that exaction

Of reality.

Files make it easy to manipulate

The images, to change

The focus, to brighten the hues,

To sharpen an object hidden

In shadow. But I, at any rate,

Have always let my memory range

My focus was variable too.

I have found when my heart has bidden

I can bring a shadowed object clear

And changing colors is

My specialty.
