Has Anyone Made His Own 'Safers'-Type Insecticdal Soap?

I'm going to try it.

It took a bit of searching to find reasonably priced potassium lye (potassium hydroxide, rather than the common sodium hydroxide regular lye) to reduce plant stress from sodium and in fact feed them a bit. Luckily I also found a source of oleaic acid (a fatty acid) better suited for making the soap than the lard I was planning to use. A supplier for amateur or small commercial soap and lotion making has them.

I figured I'd just add more water to the regular recipe to make a runny product.

Has anyone tried this? It should be a lot cheaper if you use a fair amount. And hopefully will be a bit less smelly. Maybe I'll add some nice fragrance, cedar oil or clove oil.
