Yes, it's spam and it's called spoofing as mentioned. While it's not technically "dangerous" to open them, you could be asking for more spam by opening it. Often they'll put in a little code to tell if you've opened it and that verifies the email address. A verified email address is worth much more than an unverified one in the spamming world. Not unlike a known telephone number is worth more to a telemarketer. When you get this stuff, delete it, or pay the price. OJ, sometimes people will do the right thing and use BCC when they send mail to multiple people. They usually put their own address in the "To" field and "BCC" the others so addresses will be hidden. It's the right thing to do. Now that doesn't mean that it's *not* spam though! :) People who send to everyone in their address book and not BCC, and also the people who just forward hoaxes and other junk should have their computers confiscated.

I don't have the notification enabled but if I click to send anyone here an email, an ancient email address of mine appears with a red lettered warning saying I can email people but they couldn't respond because mine's *hidden*.... Makes it difficult to communicate without putting your info out there for the world. Many times I'd have liked to offer starts of my plants to people. Too bad this site doesn't have a Private Messaging system. What do you say, Mods? Any chance of getting PM set up?

Just a quick note. With all of the splitting up of seeds between some participants. I hope that this is being done with cost of seeds and postage being reimbursed to the sender, unless other arrangements have been discussed? I had not mentioned it previous, in my forgetfulness, but this can be overlooked and I wanted make it now. In my past experiences this has happened and could just be a understanding, but if someone is kind enough to share, they should not be left in the negative. Should have mentioned this previous to starting, but I know that everyone here will come through. As I was the only one from Canada, I was not sending out mine and Tracy very kindly took over the organizing of this and her time and efforts are so appreciated. NO NEED TO RESPOND.
