Are you saying that there wasn't a vomiting scene? That's de rigeur nowadays, on TV as well. I'm surprised that they left that out.

Last night my local PBS station ran "I Saw What You Did and I Know Who You Are." Love the concept. But a total 50's flick: naiive dialog, wooden acting. It was so bad that it was almost good. Operative word is "almost." I guess I only hung on to the end because I wanted to finish what I started. lol Good Lord, how on earth did Joan Crawford get mixed up with this mess???

Yes, Epic Movie has a vomiting scene, which follows on the party scene. There is just so much cr@p it's hard to remember it all.

Wasn't this film rated PG=13? They usually are with language like that.

Sable, Demetrius & the Gladiators! ROTFL! I saw that at the movies when I was in about the fourth grade! I think that anything starring Victor Mature almost automatically qualifies for the category of this movie is a turkey.

i watch movies all teh time, so a with naming the best of all time, the worst is also a hard one to single out.

Right, Andie. I've been seeing so many reall good films that getting myself roped into such a dog makes me wonder at myself! But I am laughing at your Victor Mature film--I used to LOVE him, if you can imagine such childish foolishness.

Pidge, I've got to admit I wondered, grandchild or not, that you consented to plunk down money for what obviously would be a turkey. But I guess it goes to show that sometimes love for your family overcomes your own sense of what will be even marginally artistically acceptable.

As for Victor Mature, I'm thinking some studio executive in the 1940's thought he was a perfect specimen of male virility & in those days of the studio system, that was enough for them. I remember he was a running joke among my friends in college for all that was awful in movie acting.

I've sat through some pretty awful films with grandkid because he wanted to see them and in some ways it was good because he learned to evaluate them at a young age.He got a lot better at picking them out as he got older..but I always left it up to him. We walked out on that awful remade Grinch film with it's big breasted ladies,incredibly harsh light and off color jokes. He couldn't wait to get out of there.

My worst movie isn't easy to decide. Of course I saw a lot of films a long time ago which by today's standards are pretty lame. I think it's the acting which really turns me off and there was a film made by Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson a million years ago..Bird On A Wire. The acting in that thing was just plain pitiful. I rented it and didn't make it much past 30 minutes. Now you've got me thinking about past films.

We watched "Get Yourself a College Girl" last week. It was so bad it was good. I havent laughed so hard in ages.

Andie - I was all agog about Roman movies after Quo Vadis. D and the Gs was such a let-down. But Victor Mature had a good reputation in Hollywood as a very nice man, gentlemanly and kind.

Just went to his bio on Wikipedia. It states that he was well aware of his reputation as a bad actor. He was denied entry into a country club because he was actor. He said "I'm not an actor and I've got 67 movies to prove it!"

Oh i sat through many Saturday afternoons of those Roman movies & their related cousins, the Biblical epics, of which Samson & Delilah sticks prominently in my mind (and not because it was a great movie.).

When I think of bad movies, I usually think of ones that in the old days would be called B movies. Do they even make these anymore? Or are these kind of genre films relegated to made-for-TV or direct to DVD efforts?

I remember B movies as the ones that would open at the drive-ins & then go downhill from there - the old Vincent Price Horror movies, the Frankie & Annette Beach Party movies, and really, really bad Easy Rider rip-off motorcycle movies. It's sort of hard to pick a worst out of that bunch.

Well...it's cold and dreary here and without driving out of town I had a choice of Epic Movie or Holiday which sounded worse....I had thought I would...check out Epic...you just talked me out if it!!!
As to the worst movie? I sure have seen some stinkers!...I don't think most kid's movies fall into that category...rather I think of what was that? Tony Curtis? "Yonder lies the castle of my foddah"?
Or that "epic" with Kevin Costner riding and endlessly swinging a sword. Or another awful movie, mostly mercifully forgotten, starring Jim Beluchi with a lame plot and starring the "f" word, endlessly repeated. As an expletive, an adjective, adverb, a gerund, introducing a pharase, as the object of a preposition....and likely in forms I have forgotten.
But I loved all those Frankie and Annette movies...I ironed yards of linens, ruffled curtains and refinished furniture to their mindless drivle.

Linda, Holiday was not nearly as bad as Epic. Cute, though mindless, and hard not to like looking at the criminally handsome Jude Law.

Well, I loved Victor Mature especially in One Million Years BC. He had a great voice and I think Chris Noth (sp?) follows in his image.

Minnie, I think you just nailed it with Victor Mature coming back as Chris Noth, though, just MHO, Noth is more handsome. But they both have the kind of looks that used to be called saturnine. So did Robert Mitchum and sometimes, Elvis. No "saturnine" guys around now. Even 44 yr. old Tom Cruise still looks like a kid.

I don't even remember the name of this one, but it was about Vikings. Alls I can remember is the "cast of thousands". All of the Viking warriors wore the same very badly made red wigs. They looked like Carrot Top with horns.

ROTFL! Separated at birth? But Victor Mature used a lot more Vitalis on his hair than Chris Noth does.

Chris had better writers but no one can beat those smouldering eyes of Vic. One of my favorite scenes with Mature was in some kind of broadway comedy. He didn't have any money but went into the automat in NYC and got a cup of hot water, added catsup and seasoning and made a soup!!

I see you your "Epic" and Victor Mature movies and raise you "The Manitou." I think I was on a date when I was subjected to this 1978 movie that, according to the IMDB, offers the following plot line: A psychic's girlfriend finds out that a lump on her back is a growing reincarnation of a 400-year-old demonic, dwarf Native American spirit. And, Linda C, Tony Curtis starred as the psychic. I don't remember much about it other than it was bad, bad, bad.

Runner up might be the last remake of "The Island of Dr. Moreau" with Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer. It was far more awful than it should have been.

I think the Tony Curtis stinker I was referring to was either Son of Ali Baba or The Prince who was a Thief.
I looked up Curtis movies...and there were some that were notable...a few also starred Piper Lauri.

Tony Curtis was easy on the eyes (at least I thought so when I was in Junior High), but he was in lots & lots of stinkers. Tarus Bulba, where he was the son of the Cossack chieftain (played by Yul Brynner chewing all the scenery in sight), and sent to a Polish military academy where the Poles were very mean to him, but he ran off with the daughter of a Polish lord anyway. Even at age 13, I knew this movie was a turkey,

Some Like It Hot just mi8ght redeem Tony Curtis despite all the clunkers.

Who had the better pecs Victor Maturing or Sly Stallone? Was anything the Vic was in ever as bad as the latest Rocky?

Not having seen the latest Rocky, I can't answer that. However, I'll never be one to be defending Sly Stallone's accting ability.

Most recently we rented You Me and Dupree. It was awful.
