Los Angeles lawn question

maximum

I just got done treating a severe fungus infection in my Marathon II (medium fescue) lawn. I replaced the worst affected areas with new sod. Now my lawn looks like a checkerboard with some areas of thin grass, occasional areas of brown spots, and still others with the new sod. What can I do to revitalize my lawn to where it has a uniform appearance? This time of year (itÂs 100 degrees during the day, 65 at night) is it possible to apply a thin layer of compost and re-seed to get a level, uniform, green appearance or, should I wait until Fall? Comments would be greatly appreciated
