I've got long leaves but who am I?

The florist I bought this plant from could not tell me what it is and I'm hoping someone here can.

Looks like a Dracaena. Various hybrids available and I don't know them so can't be more specific.

Might be a Warneckii but there are certainly varieties not pictured at this link, and one pic of each is hardly sufficient for ID. I'd lean toward one of the D. deremensis but also compare your plant to D. sanderiana. When it gets taller and has more of a trunk, you can be more certain of ID if you can't decide for now. If the light has been too low, that could cause the variegation to be more slim and/or inconspicuous than normal for any type of Drac.

Brenda, it is nice when even family members are enablers, eh? LOL!! I actually keep telling my husband "There's this garden in Western NY that someday we have to go visit!" I would love to see your beautiful garden some day. The different areas you have planted and the variety is amazing. I've been lusting for some more photos from you. Would love to see what you have on file for your veggie garden from last year if you have any time to post some. Goodness! I finally cracked open the catalog for my local nursery who I really like to support. She's a true plantswoman who I so enjoy chatting with, etc. I just sent an email over to her with my "list" (is was a long one) of plants to put aside for me for pickup when they open. It's a terrible habit I have of giving her a list each year for pickup. But my birthday is always right around when she opens, so it's a birthday present, right?!?! LOL!

I started on another bed today and this time when I saw the brown icky spots lower on the leaves I opened one (it wasn't a leaf, but the bottom of a stem I think because I could 'open' it - there was a space down the middle like it was a flat tube. And I split it open and there was a bunch of horrible-looking junk inside - I'm going to take a magnifying glass out there tomorrow (with my cheaters on) because I don't think it's eggs but what is it? Is it just the 'deposits' the borers make as they eat their way through? It can be scraped off...it's slimy but looks like wet sand plus slime all the way down - like six inches of it. But I didn't see the borer....is it inside the rhizome? And what is the squishy slimy rhizome about? The ends of some of them are orange like a sweet potato and gooey. Westy

I don't think there's a better feeling than when you create something with your own hands and it turns out better than you imagined. It feels good to sit back and take it all in. I upgraded my setup yesterday. I added cross beams on the top and an additional shelf. I'm up to 3 lights now, and I doubt that will be enough. I have some peppers(under the towel) germinating on the bottom. Seedlings are under the lights, while cucumbers, tomatoes, and cantaloupes are on the top. Congrats on the successful DIY project. Ok, here's where I'm at. The Wasabi--not going to paint with it in this room. So, I'm torn between a cream (Affinity yling yling) and the Weimaramer. I was playing with the BM tool early this am before work on my home computer, I will upload some more ideas later. Anybody have the yling yling? hey it rhymes with Yuengling so maybe that's a sign. Would the Weimeramer, (can we call it "W" for short?) be too dark coming from the Baltic Gray foyer? Busybee--if you have any photos of W in real life, can you post it for me to see? While we are at it, any opinions on nightstand color? If I have a black bed, must the side tables be black/dark wood? Would white look too disjointed? Alrighty, thanks for the help and all the feedback. Back to work. Can't wait to get home tonight to play with that software some more and watch Ralph Lauren on Oprah. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I'm considering the Wasabi in the attached bathroom. If I can get it to work and look like it has a reason to be in there.

Florists typically know nothing about houseplants. They just sell them.

Rhizo, I trust that what you say is true, but that doesn't make it any less sad or bizarre to me. OTOH, more power to anyone earning a buck and paying some bills.
