Perennial Rye Grass - Drying in heat

ATomar

I planted a pure Perennial Rye 2 years back. The grass grows very well in ares where there is some shade, and is drying out in areas where there is no shade. I live in Newark, CA and the grass is good in spring but it seems to dry out in summers.

I am thinking of overseeding with Tall Fescue, since I see a lot of tall fescue bags in local home depot and probably it is the best grass for our area.

Will it create a uneven look in my garden as tall fescue blade width is 3/16 inch and rye grass blade width is 1/8

What about the growth heights of these 2.. will it be ok .. does anybody has experience like this
