I think it is a shoe rack. Have seen shorter ones, not this tall. Would never have thot to use it this way. What a unique idea for it. Will definately keep this in mind if I ever see one. Thanks for sharing. Might be a good idea for a bottle tree????? Could cut the piece off the end where it curves?? It would take a coat of paint I think.

ooo, I just pictured it using the moss inserts that nurserys put in the wire pots when they plant them, planted with draping flowers, maybe succulents

I really like Kelly oh's idea too. I'd put chicken wire around each level, spray paint entire piece dark green or brown, line chicken wire with sheet moss, and plant. Your choice of plant material will create it's final 'look'.

I just wanted to add this tip in case you decide to make a planter out of your spinner and use the sheet moss and chicken wire.

I had some hanging basket ferns this year. They were wire baskets with (coconut??? hair) inserts. I used *plastic weed cloth* to put down over the natural inserts. Then I added the dirt. So the dirt did not wash through the inserts and cause a mess everytime I watered it. It also did not dry out as fast as most hanging baskets. This would be a good treatment for the sheet moss and chicken wire planter that I have worked up in my imagination. You could make a Succulent Christmas tree with aloe Vera spiking out on top.

I have something similar to that in my basement. A store was throwing it out and of course I snagged it. I use it to hang dry my undies and other unmentionables.

I think the plant idea is a super one. I will definitely keep an eye out for one of these. Several different plant would look great in this. What possibilities.

hey, take it apart and turn the arms upside down and you will have a Christmas tree frame to add things to. then after Christmas...turn it back and have a bottle tree.

My mind went to pots of plants in each tier sort of your own xmas tree with all plants!! Surprised to see pots upside down! That works too! Might be great place to grow some bulbs so critters don't eat them!!And yes it would make a lovely drying rack for clothes!!! Or a great herb garden tree!!Lots of possibilities!! Have fun! Jan

Thanks for the suggestions. This looks like a shoe rack, but the shoes would have to be a size 18 or so. I looked at the store display businesses online and didn't see one. It may have been custom made for a particular business. There are lots of store display items that would work for something like this.

The curves can be sawed off to use it for a bottle tree or something else.

I'll probably plant some plants in it besides the empty pots, and hadn't thought of the coconut hair. It would work nicely. Thanks for the weed cloth tip. Sounds like a good idea for any of these basket type plantings.

Storing dolls or animals on it would be fun. They could be climbing every which way on it. It would be a good clothes line also.

If we can get it together soon enough we may light it up in the front yard for Christmas.

I spray painted it green today and will post a photo tomorrow on this thread. It looks a lot better already. It comes apart just by unthreading it off the pole. There are 3 sets of 2 levels. They're pretty stable and could be used separately on posts or a tabletop.

It's amazing how many great ideas people here come up with. Now who wants to go on a dumpster store rack hunt, lol?! Linda

I can see me filling it with pine and cedar boughs to make a Christmas tree on my front porch! Or, maybe to place the wrapped presents in? Or..you could display things you sell on it,too. You're going to need a lot more of these Linda!
